Seattle Mariners 2022-2023 Offseason Thread

I read thru the past few pages and my quick thoughts are:

1. Would sign ss Correa to a 2-3 year deal at $25mil a season tops. Maybe he has the red ass no post season with his current club and wants to face the Astros multiple games in our division for some revenge. And see's the Mariners star rising and wants to join the party.

2. #1 above means we move Crawford to 2nd base and part ways with Frazier ( possible deal with #3 below )

3. Sign Ohtani while he is pissed at Angels and stays on west coast for easy Japan flights. Max $30mil a season and we gain a very solid DH and do not have to resign Haniger in any capacity as his contribution is so minimal after his 40 HR season a few years back I am OK with him walking and using that money to sign both #1 and #3.

4. Then all we truly need is a corner outfielder to get us much closer to competing with the Astros for division titles. And post season regular visits.

5. I am fine if France goes also. Take away his hot 6 week start to the season and he was a very low end 1st basemen. he is just not athletic enough and it is only going to get worse as he is too plump for his own good.

6. Wanker should be gone as he is a wasted spot on the 25 man roster and contributes near nothing offensively or defensively.

7. Kelenics maturation process is getting there and I think he likely makes the team when they break camp next spring. He is cheap and allows money for #1-#6 above.

8. Evan White is already extended and needs to play so we see what we have at 1st base with him, and then make decisions on where we stand with him or without him.

9. Lefty in the pen

The front office had to have seen that we are simply not competitive with the elite teams at current roster strength. If they do not make needed changes this off season, we are doomed.

Frazier is a free agent.

Ohtani has one year left on his contract.

Agree with the rest accept I don't care as much as I once did if they even move Crawford. I guess it wouldn't hurt, but he is just kind of meh on offense.

Dumbest shit ever for Jerry to say. As much as it seems JP is beloved by the clubhouse he gets zero say. He can be captain at 2B.

I know the M's need offense, but I really really hope they sign Rodon. I wanted him this past offseason, I hope they get him. That rotation would be filthy.

Offensively, I'd make a move for Correia. Yeah he's a filthy cheater, but the guy can hit and the Mariners need that. Would really have to look over the list of free agents before seeing who else would fit in. A reliable closer is probably on that list though, but don't know if one is available.

This is the offseason where the M's need to be big spenders. We'll see if they do or if it's just same old, same old.

If you watched the press conference today, you wouldn't hold your breath on them adding a SP. They talked about already their starting 5 plus 4 in the minors as backups. He even downplayed Brash going back to a starter because of all the depth. I agree with you though. Rodon would be amazing. Deal Marco and sign him.

You're probably right regarding the sound considering that the Kingdome was a dome and held like 15,000 more people.

I was surprised honestly how many people stayed the entire game and remained engaged through the entire game. Not going to lie I really considered leaving - I pre-gamed pretty hard and I get really tired when sobering up since they stopped serving booze in the 7th - but the fact that the energy was still electric after 5 hours of scoreless baseball made me stay. I paid $320 or so for the ticket and another $100 or so on food and booze, and was wondering if I'd regret it, but despite the loss I'll always remember that game. My only regret is that I didn't get to the stadium earlier. I didn't get to my seat until like 10 minutes before first pitch.

Seattle fans really made me proud to be a fan. Had we not had the drought I am not sure that everyone would’ve stayed. I’m guessing everyone there were either Husky or Coug fans as well and didn’t think it would bleed that far over. I couldn’t have blamed you had you bounced, but that game is why I tell all of the people that I know to pound sand when they say baseball is boring. It was scoreless for 17 innings but it was more exciting than anything the NFL or NBA could ever give a fan IMO.
