The top player from Mexico in the class, Martinez is large and tall with a very projectable body and tons of flexibility.

He projects to be a starter if he can maintain his consistency in the strike zone and improve on his secondary pitches. For now, his fastball hovers in the 89-91 mph range and his velocity is expected to increase as he matures and adds strength. There is already some sink in his fastball, and he creates some deception with his arm angle. He also has a high arm slot.

He shows signs of fade to his changeup and a sharp bite to his curveball, but both are works in progress. He already shows good command of the strike zone and has an idea of how to attack hitters. He has experience playing in the showcase circuit in the United States.

Martinez trains with Showtime Top Velocity. The Mariners are among the teams who have shown strong interest in him.

When you consider his tools and skills, this teenager might have the highest ceiling of any international shortstop prospect in a decade. Yes, that list also includes Marco Luciano, Wander Franco and Robert Puason.
Celesten shows big tools across the board and has a chance to be a five-tool player if he continues to develop at a normal pace. The switch-hitter has improved in every facet of this game as he has matured physically in the past year, and he has a chance to have plus speed, arm, and raw power as a result.

$6,366,900: Athletics, Brewers, Mariners, Marlins, Rays, Reds, Tigers, Twins …..These were the teams who had picks in Competitive Balance Round-B of the 2022 draft.

$5,825,500: Diamondbacks, Guardians, Orioles, Padres, Pirates, Rockies, Royals …..These teams had picks in Competitive Balance Round-A of the 2022 draft.

$5,284,000: Astros, Blue Jays, Braves, Cardinals, Cubs, Giants, Mets, Nationals, White Sox, Yankees

$4,644,000: Angels, Phillies, Red Sox…..Each of these teams surrendered $500K from their bonus pools because they signed a qualifying offer-rejecting free agent in the 2021-22 offseason. Los Angeles signed Noah Syndergaard, Philadelphia signed Nick Castellanos, and Boston signed Trevor Story.

$4,144,000: Dodgers, Rangers…..These teams also signed QO-rejecting free agents during the 2021-22 offseason, as Texas took $500K penalties for both Marcus Semien and Corey Seager. Los Angeles had to give up $1MM from its pool in order to sign Freddie Freeman, as the Dodgers received double the penalty because they exceeded the luxury tax threshold in 2021.

trade rumars

The Astros have won the division title in the American League West in each of the past five full seasons. They also reached the ALCS in each of those years, along with the shortened 2020 campaign. There hoisted the World Series trophy twice in that time, including just a few months ago. However, their rivals have been aggressive in trying to load up to chase them in 2023 and it now seems like four out of the five clubs seem like legitimate contenders.

There’s still over a month until pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training, meaning there’s still time for some aggressive transactions that will further change the calculus. But much of the heavy lifting of the offseason appears to be done. Most of the top free agents are off the board, with guys like Jurickson Profar, Michael Wacha and Andrew Chafin the top remaining options. Those are fine players that could certainly help a team but they wouldn’t be franchise-altering additions. There’s also the
Whether there are significant moves still to come or not, let’s look at where the clubs stand now, starting with the reigning champs.

Houston Astros – 2022 record: 106-56, projected 2023 fWAR: 48.2

Seattle Mariners – 2022 record: 90-72, projected 2023 fWAR: 43.5

Yeah, I'm 53... That's crazy... Weird because Maria Presley died last week as well at 54 years old...
Tell me about it. It makes you think about it just a little more each time. That is a big reason I can't take another "Wait til next year' crap You start running out of those after awhile..

We all need to pray that he is closer to Julio’s timeframe. From everything I read he is going to slot in as the number 1-3 prospect. I’ll admit I know zero about Miller but was listening to the Chuck and Buck’s podcast and evidently Miller has wowed enough scouts where will leapfrog Hancock when the new lists come out and possible leapfrog Ford to be either 1 or 2.
