Rangers have a chance to throw a wet blanket on the M's season. We will once again not see King Felix this series.

Might could play the spoiler in some of these games down the stretch like the final 4 games in Arlington vs the A's. If only the minor league team plus Belts we have playing, could score more than 1-2 runs per game. Not gonna win much with our lineup as currently constructed

If the Mariners are in the playoffs their home games will be a nightmare for teams as their crowd may be the loudest of any when it comes to those big games.

Part of a Tim Cowlishaw article on DMN. The part about Mazara stuck out to me.

Gallo has 42 home runs this season. The Rangers have 96.
But Gallo said on KESN-FM (103.3) Wednesday that he feels no sense of urgency — the kind of thing you expect from someone who knows his potential but also recognizes he doesn’t turn 21 until November.
“There’s no need for them to waste any development,” Gallo said. “They’re gonna slow-play it, and that’s fine with me.”
It may not turn out to be that slow next spring if the Rangers are still struggling to score runs and Manager Ron Washington and Daniels are feeling the hot seat. But it’s not as if Gallo represents the only ray of hope here just north of the city.
Jorge Alfaro had 17 home runs, 87 RBIs and 48 extra-base hits in 121 games at Myrtle Beach and Frisco this season. He had slightly higher on-base and slugging numbers after his summer promotion, turned 21 in June and — if he refines his defense — could be the homegrown catcher the organization has struggled to develop since the days of Pudge.
Then there’s Nomar Mazara, the 6-4 left-handed right fielder from the Dominican, who had his best batting average (.306) and slugging numbers (.508) at any level after coming to Frisco. And he’s 19.
“He’s something special,” Gallo said. “We tell others — the umpires or other teams — he’s only 19 and they say, ‘What, he looks like he’s 30.’ He’s going to make an impact when he gets to the majors.
“We do have something special here. When I first got here, we were in Tulsa, I was at third base and I just remember looking around the field and thinking this team is loaded. In 10 years, people may look back and say, ‘That was an unbelievable Double-A team.’”

Frisco was LOADED with talent this year. If they don't end up winning the Texas league series it'll be kinda crazy.

I hope it is one of those deals like OKC when Pudge and JuanGone and company came up and changed the face of the team. It was part of the reason I would liked to have seen Luke Jackson stay with those guys and just bring that special talent up to AAA together.

Don't worry they'll be re-united soon. That is unless LJ gets demoted next year. I bet Gallo, Mazara, and Alfaro are in Round Rock next year. Our AAA team will be a lot better than they were this year.

I bet Chi Chi and Thompson will join LJ too.

Our standard operation lately has been to put those who have been in the majors at AAA and most are really going nowhere so it breeds a mediocre team. Which is probably true for all MLB clubs. So if we do that I hope we are able to keep those core guys together like you stated but at the same time create an environment of success. These guys were successful from Hickory and up but throw them in there with pitchers like Kirkman and position players like Josh Wilson I am not sure that will happen. In fact MB had something like their 4th best season in their history and best attendance ever with some of those guys playing there half of the season.

I have been wondering that myself. He was a 20/20 guy this year and is only the 4th Ranger minor leaguer to do that since 2000.

Buster Olney ranks our chances of trading for Stanton as 6th best.

6. Texas Rangers

The Rangers have the prospects to build an offer for Stanton, rival officials believe, particularly catcher Jorge Alfaro. But the Rangers already have big-dollar obligations committed to Shin-Soo Choo and Prince Fielder.

The Dodgers are # 1.

That is one of the reasons why I was against both the Choo and Fielder acquisitions. We are tying up a lot of money on older players and that will hamper us in making better acquisitions in the future.
