I am still trying to figure out what everyone means by run first QB. I have the picture of the wishbone offense and you pass 10 to 15 times a game. Name me one QB that runs a set run play for them more then 15% of the time. Even with all his scrambles RG3 only ran 8% of the time. That to me is not a run first QB.
The OP doesn't even know what he's trying to say.

He kept using the term "run first QB." Like I said earlier, there is no such thing in the NFL as a run first QB. No team has more designed plays for the QB to run than to pass. Never has been....never will.

Also all many of the best QBs drafted the last three years are "running QBs. That includes this years draft. So how OP can say their day is done? Its has just started.

This whole thread is just fucking baindead! OP please come up with an original thought, regurgitated bullshit thought up in your fucking head! I guess Steve Young winning a SB as a scrambler doesn't fucking count in your puny brain does it??? Go back to watching the Lions lose on sunday, when we need real football info we sure as hell don't go to a Lions fan for such info!

Never really worked for Vick. RG3 is done. Kaepernick has jumped the shark. Harbaugh will be back coaching in the NCAA within 2 years. Chip Kelly's O is already getting slowed down. This shit (yes, shit) won't work in the NFL where everyone is fast.

Wow. Overreact much?

The next scrambling QB who wins a SB will be the first. Don't hold your breath.

Steve Young.

Let's look at it another way. There are 8 teams that are 2-0. Only one of those teams runs the read option. And that team is known for defense more than anything (Seattle).

The other 2-0 QBs:

Peyton Manning
Alex Smith
Matt Schaub
Tom Brady
Ryan Tannehill
Jay Cutler
Drew Brees

Except the only games that Russell Wilson has lost since he started using his legs more than being a Trent Dilfer type quarterback were because of the defense. Also are you just disregarding Wilson because he doesn't fit your argument?

Every LB is as fast as the fastest QB in the NFL.
That's not true at all. There's maybe a handful of LBs in the NFL running a sub 4.4 like Vick, Kaep and RG3...

Definitely a place for both. Some teams will build around a pocket passer, some will go read-option style...

Joe Montana ran the option at Notre Dame. lol. But seriously, not even Tim Tebow was "run first" when he played. He passed the ball over twice as many times (271) than he ran (122) in 2011. The year Michael Vick rushed for over 1000 yards, he still passed the ball over THREE TIMES more (388) than he ran (123). So please go inform yourself OP.

A run first QB doesn't exist in the NFL...not now anyway.

I'm guessing here, but from what read from the OP, I think he means QBs that have a considerable amount of designed rushes from the spread/read option or the pistol.

Monday Night Football OFFICIAL TV despcription of the game was "Pocket passer Peyton Manning vs. SCRAMBLING QB Terrell Pryor."

That's the problem with good debates these days. Everyone wants to argue semantics. Meanwhile EVERY name I used in my OP lost this weekend because pro HC's are easily figuring this fad out. You can learn, or you can argue like a bitch about words.

Good debate? You wouldn't know one if it hit you over the head. All I read from you are a bunch of over-the-top statements often accompanied by name calling and curse words. That is a good debate? I see no evidence of you being objective, considering other people's points or ever considering that you might be wrong on any of this.

You just sound like some bitter old man that is incapable of adapting to anything. I also love how you come to season ending conclusions 2-3 weeks into the season. Whatever - might as well not debate anything since you know it all (at least in your own mind).

I am not so sure that Luck vs Kaep is a definitive pronouncement that scrambling QBs are endangered, as both can and will scramble when the opportunity is presented, hell Luck had more yards on the ground than Kaep, and both are capable of winning games with their arms, imo.

It looks to me like Kaep is trying hard to become more proficient with his arm this season, coaches and players do know that a run first QB will not last in the NFL. But I see no reason why a good QB who can run would go out of style, I think that is part of the evolution of the game.

His game has. Can he become a pass first QB? Maybe. But that's my point. Run first QB's don't last long in the NFL.

How do you define run first? When I think of run first QB play, the only team I can think of with this style of play is the Air Force in college.

If the QBs you mentioned were run first QBs, we would only see passes on 3rd down with more than 4 yards to get the first down.
