Mike Currie, if you're reading this, I'll accept the job for only a tenth of the salary you offered Schiano.

PM me on this site and we'll work out the details

They won't trust you. Remember what happened the last time a USC guy was the Tennessee HC?

If they had a lot of options and could afford to be picky, I wouldn't have offered

Would they freak out over him being Joey Freshwater because Tennessee fans don’t like how he bailed on them last time? “ZOMG HE CHEATED ON HIS WIFE!!! WE CAN’T HAVE AN ADULTERER AS HEAD COACH!!!! HE SLEPT WITH NICK SABAN’S MARRIED DAUGHTER!!!!”
Pretty close to 50/50 amongst the fan base. Mostly the old people who take things like " a guy leaving for a dream job" personal. I'm all for the guy. Most likely the best x and o coach Tennessee has seen in my life time or even ever.

Well there's nowhere near enough evidence. It's based on the word of someone who supposedly heard it from someone else, that someone having already vehemently denied it.

Heard them talking about it on Dan Patrick today. They were saying that it was some off-hand comment and it's the only time Schiano's name was ever mentioned. They said that over the years, through hundreds of hours of depositions and thousands of pages of court documents...Schiano's name is not mentioned even one time.

The court documents aren't that hard to find.

Educate yourself.

You realize that Schiano's name isn't mentioned even one time in those court documents, right?

I think they would kill to have Kiffin back.

Here's the thing. Tennessee had some success in the 90s, with only one recognized national championship since most of our parents were born, and still thinks of itself as a blue-blood powerhouse that's entitled to whatever coach it pleases. I mean, you can see people in this thread complaining because Florida got Mullen and they got Schiano. The two programs are not comparable. Tennessee hasn't won an SEC championship since 1998. Florida has 2 national championships and 3 SEC championships since then. Tennessee hasn't been to the SEC championship in a decade. Florida has been to 4 in that time. Florida is also in the most talented state for high school football, Tennessee is just inside the top 20. For the last 10 years, Florida, Georgia, Missouri, and South Carolina have all had more success than them in the east, in that order. I don't see how you can be that picky when you have been the fifth best team in the weaker division of the SEC for a decade, and have a terrible reputation for treating coaches poorly, even having numerous fans discussing how to get out of paying the last coach's contract. I think they should be happy with whatever coach is willing to come in and try to bail out their already sunken ship.

Miles
Tee
Brohm
Kiffin
The problem with Miles is that he's pretty old at this point; he's 64. Realistically, how many years of coaching are you going to get out of him? And how much drive does does he have to re-build a program?

Miles was regressing his last few years at LSU hence the reason LSU kicked his ass to the curb.

Wouldn't surprise me if Schiano sued for defamation. Also, I have to LOL at the Tennessee fans using the fake outrage just because they didn't like the hire.

I hope the hell he does. He's a good guy, and didn't deserve any of this.

and fucking Vol fans need to wake up and realize they would've been lucky to have this guy. what total POS this fan base is........ Newsflash...... you are not getting a Saban/Meyer type......

I agree, he wouldn't be around long but would be a safe hire at this point.

My next choice would be Tee Martin. He's young, a good recruiter, has ties to Tennessee...but has no head coaching experience. Mike Riley at OU seems to be doing alright, but an OC to HC without experience worries me a bit.

Kiffin is a pompous ass, that cares more about attention and his self image more than anything. He has zero loyalty and would have the NCAA looming over us...again. He's the last coach I want.

Riley at OU took over a pretty healthy program, so its' a bit different. I still think Tenn's best option is trying to grab and up and coming coordinator rather than going for these has-been head coaching types like Schiano and Miles. You need to find your Dantonio.
