Saying "Us" & "We" when talking about the team you like

I loathe people that get bent out of shape if somebody says we or us. I don't say it but if I did, eff you, I spend money on the sports franchise that's the equivalent of me owning stock, I'm invested in the franchise. Am I out there playing? No, but I am contributing to their salary. Is the owner playing? No, but he can sure as hell use we and us when referring to the team.

In a civilized conversation?? yes!!! but there is nothing worse than when the discussion is getting heated, and someone catches you on semantics and misses the hole point!!!

This ^^. Calling someone out for it is just douchebaggery. It's simply shorthand, especially when posting on the team board. Teams wouldn't exist without their fans.

What about homefield advantage? The home crowd has a direct impact on the game. Fans have as much right if not more, to say "We" because they are the only ones 100% loyal to a team. Players/Coaches move on. Fans are always there.

I try like hell to not do it but something accidentally. I understand why people do it, because it's easier to use a pronoun reference rather than say "the team"

I am invited to shareholder meetings, can vote yearly on the board of directors, and have a piece of paper that says shareholder...so I will say "we" whenever the hell I feel like it

As much time as hard core fans such as myself put into the teams we follow, and as much money as us fans put into the teams we follow, then we have the right to say "we" any damn time we want.

I always do it. And I will continue to.

Used to hate it. Doesn't bother me anymore. I've noticed that when I'm talking about my college team, I use we. But with professional teams, I don't.
