Sark taking a cue from Mary Sue
yeah it was incoherent. anyway the reason why I disagree is because this type of behavior will be forgotten, forgiven and laughed at if he wins. just look at college football as it is, of all the scandals here is one where we have a head coach getting a little loaded and being a homer. I think its a little funny because it was at a homer fest where drinking was involved. We as a society should lighten up a little. Now if he was on the field getting loaded and coaching, sure get mad cause you pay him a lot. This got out due to social media, this wasn't a press conference so again, its a social setting. Be a homer! Have some fun. Fuck it! Why not?
I agree with the overall sentiment. Sark isn't the first coach to get drunk at an event like this, drop f bombs and talk smack about rivals. 10-20 years or more ago, this is nothing more than a "remember that time" thing that boosters who were there laugh about.
Problem is, our brains haven't really caught up with what technology can do and with social media, this stuff gets out almost in real time and makes for a bad look.
those damn interwebs thingee
Given Haden's immediate reaction to the situation though, it didn't come off very well, social media or not. Having an AD pull you off stage and then give you an earful means whatever socially acceptable line there is for boozing and bantering, Sark crossed it. This wasn't a bunch of wealthy guys in a haze of booze and cigar smoke laughing it up. This obviously put off a lot of would be donors, and Sark wasn't just "a bit tipsy," he seemed like a mess, and that doesn't instill a lot of confidence in his stewardship of the program to the folks with the wallets. Coming off of 9-4, not sure that's the optics he wants to put out. Sure, if he has a great year this year, it will be forgotten. I'd say if he matches last year's record, his seat will be considerably hot, given his antics and then failing to deliver.I agree with the overall sentiment. Now I know yore not going to tell me Lou Holtz never showed up drunk to workBecause he is a representative of the University of Southern California. It's his job to be respectable.
If this was a BBQ in his backyard, it would would be different. But this is an official marketing event at which he must appear because of contractual obligations. By being drunk and incoherent, he was unable to perform his job, part of which is PR. And having to be dragged off the stage and chastised by the AD is an embarrassment - you know - the kind of thing you try to avoid when putting your product out there at a PR event.
What Sarkisian did was show up to work drunk and unable to perform his job.
To the best of my knowledge, Lou Holtz never had to be physically dragged off stage by his AD in order to prevent him from further embarrassing his program. Now I know yore not going to tell me Lou Holtz never showed up drunk to work
I haven't heard that story what happened? To the best of my knowledge, Lou Holtz never had to be physically dragged off stage by his AD in order to prevent him from further embarrassing his program.
In fact - the closest I know of is a story about San Jose State coach Claude Gilbert in the "towel game" against Fresno State. But that is a story for another thread. (and it is funny.)
I bet this is from when he took Nick Holt out to tell him his services would no longer be needed...Damn
By the end Holt was like 'I need a Cosmo...'I bet this is from when he took Nick Holt out to tell him his services would no longer be needed...
Sure this kind of thing is quite common as far as heavy bills on the alcohol.I bet this is from when he took Nick Holt out to tell him his services would no longer be needed...
Wouldn't you have expected most of it to come out after he left the program the way he did? I doubt there are that many more skeletons in the closet. There isn't anyone around the program that felt the need to hold onto shit to protect him after he bailed on them.Sure this kind of thing is quite common as far as heavy bills on the alcohol.
But I am interested to see what else UW supporters dig up on him.
This is going to be a snowball effect I believe.

Trojans can't catch a break with their coaches lately. Love it!
