I am not sure if this was platoon day or not. But if it was nobody told Howard. I don't have a problem mixing it up but I would like to see Asche play every game for the next 2 weeks. he is still learning and the bench teaches nothing. IMO.

I would have preferred that Asche played too. Even though it's just the second game, I'm always thinking the guy may be in a groove and he won't be the same on returning. It took guts to put in Nix. It's early and at least Howard had an RBI. Actually, I'm OK with Ryno playing the percentages. Something Cholly didn't do too often.

Would really like to see Asche play all the time. He had an incredible game 1. He's young, let him play.

I don't mind him getting everyone a chance to play early in the season but I thought he should have pinch hit Asche for Nix in his last at bat when there was a RH pitcher in there, like he did with Brown.

That is a good point. Sandberg missed an opportunity to play the percentages in that situation.

Another lefty tonight. Maybe he'll put Brown and Asche back in and rest Howard

Sandberg used poor judgment the way he used his relievers. He reminded me of Charlie.

I think Sandberg has kind of the same problem Charlie had--the relievers are not that good. But in their defense they had a tough job last night. Both the 7th and 9th started out with the top of the lineup. With Choo and Fielder's .400 OBP and Andrus bunting it seems like it would be hard for anyone to keep them from scoring 1 run if that's all they were trying to do.

The biggest mistake was not bringing in a right handed reliever to face Beltre.
