This relates to past cap discussions we’ve had on this board and people constantly predicting cap doom and gloom for teams. The Saints are supposed to be one of those teams and yet here they are signing the best FA QB on the market. If your team isn’t manipulating the cap to perpetually kick the cab down the road, they’re not doing it right. So many of you guys just spout the line your ineffectual front office has sold you. Here ya go. Saints not cap strapped. Able to make a huge move with a commitment of big money.

They were the team rumored to be trading for him. I appreciate the spitefulness to the Raiders organization.

Smart move by Carr to go to the division that currently lacks a franchise QB. Saints going all-in on the draft last year at least makes a little sense now but they seem to be lacking a smart long-term strategy with team building.

Well, good move by NO. Keeps a halfway decent QB from signing with Carolina and Tampa

I see this as a terrible move for the Saints. Carr is not a long-term solution. Are they Saints still living under the delusion that they are a contender?

Not a terrible move at all. They improved the most important position on the team and they’re now the favorites in their division.

I don't think it's a bad move, necessarily. Carr is the best FA QB available, and they just improved their offense in a division that is sorely lacking in QB talent. Maybe it doesn't translate into a SB run but it definitely gets them into the playoff hunt.

Not just the division but the whole conference. Carr may be the 3rd or 4th best QB in the NFC as soon as he signs his contract. Not a lot of QB talent in the NFC.

I dont know. This feels like a Russell Wilson situation where the conference change is going to expose how mediocre Carr actually is.

Could be. He doesn’t have anything close to the same weapons he had last year.

You are nuts.

Saints get a legit starting NFL QB and dont have to give up a single draft pick to get it done. They couldnt have hoped for such luck (maybe those voodoo dolls really do work).

Go check out Carr's stats for the previous 4 years before McDaniels got to the team and fucked up the offense. He was a QB who complete 69% of his passes and passed for 4000 yards and around 25 TD's a season.

Is he great? No. Is he good enough? Hell yes. Jimmy G has made the NFC championship game 2 times and SB once. And he isnt even near Carr in ability or production.

He's 31, has a lot of years left.

Jimmy G is more careful with the ball and has a defense, so it's a tough comparison. Carr has never had a defense his whole career.
