Do you think the Sabres set new NHL records for the following:

1) Fewest points in a season: 24, by the 1974-75 Washington Capitals.

2) Fewest wins: 8, by the 1974-75 Caps.

3) Fewest goals: 133, by the 1953-54 Chicago Blackhawks.

4) Most shutout losses: 16, by the 2006-07 Columbus Blue Jackets.

5) Worst power play percentage: 9.35 percent, by the 1997-98 Tampa Bay Lightning.

As of right now, the Sabres are on pace for 11 wins, 27 points, 126 Goals scored, 16 shutouts, and a PP% around 10.00 percent.

So I'm going to say:

1) No

2) No

3) Yes

4) Yes

5) No

1 and 2 I'd say no way.

3, 4, and 5 are doable. Most likely 3, but it's going to take a lot of luck, none of it good.

I think the Ducks will take #5 home this year.

#3 might be in play, but I don't see Buffalo taking any of the rest. #4 is a tricky one, because you can get shutout and win with the shootout now, but usually Miller likes to take that possibility out of the way early in games.

Unless they shorten the season (yeah right), I don't see those two records ever falling. :(

How come you can find out what the "Worst Away Record & Best Home Record" is, but you can't find what the "Worst Home Record" is?

Sabres on Pace to win 0 games at home, so I'm curious now who holds the record?

Probably the 8 win Caps from the mid 70's.

If not Washington, then Quebec. My guess, anyways.

Probably the 8 win Caps from the mid 70's.

Out of their 8 wins that Season, 7 were on Home Ice.

They had only 1 win on the road, but the Sens still hold the record for Worst Away Record at 1-41-0.

Even the 1980-81 Jets had 7 of their 9 wins on Home Ice.

I think the Sabres have a good shot at this one.

I could see them having a genuine chance at 1 and 2 also.

They've already moved the only significant offensive threat and are quite obviously being kept in games by their goaltending, as seen by their chance to beat #3.

Enroth has been excellent backing up Miller and Miller has been fantastic (he's on-track to have his 2nd best career SV%), but if/when they move Miller and Enroth has to play almost every game while facing 35+ shots, he's going to struggle.

Oh, and the pace for 126 goals only applies if you count the bonus goal that's awarded when a team wins the shootout.

Take that out and they're on pace for 121.

I pretty much agree with the initial post - definitely the 16 shutouts for sure

Some updates provided for us by the Buffalo News:
Low-scoring Sabres on pace for historically bad year - Sports - The Buffalo News

Keeping their NHL-worst pace over 82 games, the Sabres would finish with just 132 goals – and that would be by far the lowest total in NHL history in the expansion era that dates to 1967.

That’s when the league doubled from the Original Six to 12 teams, and it’s the demarcation line for a lot of the league’s records. The 1997-98 Tampa Bay Lightning hold the current post-expansion mark for scoring futility with 151 goals.

The Sabres are on pace for a franchise record-low 41 points – which would be the lowest total in the NHL since the shootout began in 2005. That mark is 56 points, set by the 2006-07 Philadelphia Flyers (22-48-12).

Since the NHL started awarding points for overtime losses in 1999, the lowest total is the 39 points accumulated by the Atlanta Thrashers in 1999-2000

Other updates (calculated by me):
1) Wins: 17.5
2) Time shutout: 14.6
3) PP%: 14.5

So it looks like goals might end up being the only record they manage to break.

If Ryan Miller is still on the market, the Jackets might be interested. Bob may have tweaked a knee.

Gaborik. And Boll.

Deal?

There are two reasons why 1 and 2 will not fall.
1. Shootouts Washington got ties now Buffalo gets a chance at wins.
2. Loser points when Washington lost, it lost, no extra points.

3, 4, and 5 are a possibility but I doubt any of them fall.
