RR went to Synder to discuss the benching of Haskins. If he had the keys he wouldn't have had to do that.

Are we sure that happened? The article above states that Rivera simply informed the owner and proceeded as he wanted. Nothing wrong with keeping an owner informed if he wad the president and GM.
Just because Rivera discussed it with snyder doesn't mean Rivera wasn't in control of the situation or of the team. Who else was Rivera going to talk about it? Rivera had full control. Snyder wasn't running the operations on the field at this point.

We need to stop blaming every little thing on snyder. Nobody liked the guy, but under Rivera, snyder wasnt responsible for missed tackles in the field, botched free agent signings and bad draft picks. At some point, Rivera is accountable. It was riveras strategy over 4 years that led us to the current dumpster fire. Snyder is always the scapegoat when a commanders fan wants to deflect something.

The chase Young disaster was 100% on Rivera.

If Haskins didnt exist and still went Young without any QB to speak of that would have been crazy. IMO Haskins a Synder pick made a difference.
That's fine but you are protecting Rivera.
I gave ample evidence showing Riveras history with offensive personnel and decisions.
It simply isn't a priority to him as much as the defense.
In the 2023 offseason, he and mayhew said they would be a power running team.

In 2022, Rivera began deconstructing the OLine and went cheap.

In 2021 his qb answer was Ryan Fitzpatrick.
In 2022 his qb answer was carson wentz.

He hired Scott Turner, an unqualified candidate, to be his OC because norv Turner is his father.

You are now telling me that snyder was indirectly responsible for drafting young? If Haskins was going to be the starters surely Rivera would have known that Trent williams would need to be replaced right? Or did Rivera think any camp body could fill in for a top LT in the NFL? The strategy was flawed from the get go because Rivera had no clue what he was doing. I said this word for word 4 years ago..word for word.

How much more evidence do you need to show you that Rivera had and has no clue how to build and support a successful offense?

not defending RR. i know the history. Haskins had to be in the QB picture at that time b/c of the first-round pick QB status and who picked him in the draft. I can't definitely say that RR was forced to play Haskins on Week 1 b/c of Synder but it had to go thorough RR's mind.

criticism is warranted at any time when i deem it so for myself and myself only the fact is they picked a guy who told them he didnt want to play here and that he wanted to make his own way . this has been posted here and if they drafted him anyway then they are subject to criticism

i started souring on clowney right before he got hurt because he stunk .
I noticed you downgraded them for picking Cosmi as a tackle after he had to move to guard. But you argued with me when I took that position when we discussed Brendon Scherff. By the way years later I'd take Leonard Williams' career over Brandon Scherff if for no other reason than, as I argued at the time, you should not spend the 5th pick in the draft on a guard.

Quinn has had opportunities and seems selective. I think he wants better than the skins roster.
In my humble opinion, anyone including Dan Quinn is offered the HC job in Washington moving forward now that Snyder is gone, will absolutely accept the job.

i agree, i just think if Haskins wasnt here we had nothing at QB and RR would have taken Tua. Rr knew that he had to start Haskins in 2020 b/c of Synder.
The GM/HC Ron had no f'ing balls and his days were numbered from there.

He is the least shiftiest of our o/line but that’s a downgrade. BS was an all pro for us

Formerly a top-10 pick for the Jets out of USC in 2015, though he has only been selected to one Pro Bowl and never been named an All-Pro, Williams has been one of the NFL's best all-around defensive linemen for nearly a decade

He was named to the 2021 Pro Bowl, his fourth in his career, as well becoming the first Washington player to be named first-team All-Pro since punter Matt Turk in 1996. He was also ranked 98th on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2021 list.

oh the magical shifting point thing you do . well from what i gathered you feel williams was the better pick but when compared BS has had the better career . its perfectly fine to have some arbitrary thing for not drafting guards in the top 5

as for CY , the team KNEW he didnt want to play for them when they drafted him and that compounds the fact that he simply wasnt a generational talent as promised and his career will be that of clowneys . we passed on 2 franchise qbs when we didnt have one so yes it is hindsight if it werent for the fact they KNEW he didnt want to play for them

Where did it say that Young didn't want to play for Washington? I had never heard that before.

There was a little talk in sports media about bringing Tua in before the draft and most here were dead against that.

I never questioned Youngs talent, I questioned the draft strategy of the team and his character coming out of college. Listening to Craig Hoffmann podcast, he had red flags during the combine and osu pro day. Hoffman personally interviewed young and claims young threw DC under the bus to him personally. Rivera was fixated on young as was many in our fanbase.

this is when this came out prior to the draft

snyder did a lot of dumb things and wasted lots of money, but taking haskins because he was a friend of his son,s was the dumbest.
