Roughing the passer call in Lions-Vikings game yesterday.

Can we all just agree that QB's should just be ruled down as soon as you touch them so that there would be no need to tackle them at all?

Yah I didn't see it until today but it was pretty ridiculous. They also missed a blatant offensive hold on the same play.

Their was one point that a Seahawk, LJ Collier, took down Beathard by the Neck and I was in debate with 2 Hawks with the definition with Roughing the passer.

I agree some of these calls are pathetic however

Yeah, if tackles are considered roughing the passer, then let's just take tackling the QB out of the game. It would eliminate a lot of confusion and it would keep QB's almost completely safe, which is what the NFL wants.

I explained this yesterday in the game thread. I think it’s bs but the nfl will say the defender drove the qb in the ground with all his body weight. They expect the dude to throw himself to the side of the qb before landing

That's the only reason I can think of (and thought of at the time) as to why it was called but jesus that is just some complete BS. So you can't do that to a QB but on every other player you can?

Roughing the passer rules really need to change or just make it flag football. Or better yet just put the Red practice jersey on a QB

my issue with roughing passer is it's not consistent

I think we're all shocked it was KC that got that treatment

if it were rodgers, brady, brees we wouldn't bat an eye, those guys seem to get those BS calls all the time. Heck, they changed rules after Rodgers got hurt

(ironically the rule changed helped vikings tie GB very next year, vikes would've won if Daniel Carlson could've made a 35 yard FG. Of course, after being cut by vikes he's become super dependable for Raiders...)

I agree with you. NO one (not even the nfl officials) knows what a roughing the passer is or isn't. It gets called differently every crew I have also noticed it has been called more in crucial situations (like the one in this thread) and it seems to not matter if it truly is roughing the passer or not.
