Hell, the holding that ended the Bears very first drive was bullshit. You know, the drive wherein they were straight fucking dominating on the ground, not having to throw a single fucking pass to get in their redzone?

This one just bugs. Never should've been a game. The Sanborn pick should've been the backbreaker that won it early.

I mean, Fields just can't throw that pick six, but still...this team, coupled with the refs is just so rough to watch.

It sure feels like the Bears are tanking. I know the offense is putting up points... but it is all JF. The rest of the team is shit.

Gotta admit...This game was a tough one to swallow. It was Lions at home for chrissakes. Might even be the precursor to us getting swept by the division.

However...I'm gonna sit back, breathe and spew some positive in the wake of this.

My personal opinion is if we had run back out there with Mack/Hicks/Quinn/Roquan this entire season (which was very doable), we'd be in the playoff hunt right now with 6 wins or more. I'm not really saying this to argue the merits of if we should have (so hold your horses on the "BUT HICKS IS ALWAYS INJURED" retort). What I'm getting at saying this is that we're about a handful of reasonable acquisitions from putting ourselves in the playoffs.

This is a FAR CRY from what I thought we would be this year. I thought we'd be sh*t on a stick even with those guys. Sh*t...They'd be spouting off in the media about how we're a dark horse with Justin Fields starting to "break out" this past month and how we'd be a tough out come playoff time. Why? Because we'd have a pass rush and an offense that can put points on the board. Right now, after these 10 games our talented secondary and QB would be coming together. Kinda sad we don't get to experience it, but it makes sense because we need not only impactful players, but YOUNGER impactful players...24-28 age range.

Way I see it...If we make 5 reasonable acquisitions this offseason at: C/WR/DE/DT/MLB...We're in the hunt for the NFC next year. This is as much as we could ask for and I have hope that it will come together. The NFC is not that strong. If we have a playmaking QB and a reasonable cast, we're basically in the hunt and then-depending how things come together-a big trade/acquisition in years following to "make the step."

This month has been amazing and gives me hope. Plus it's been entertaining as hell despite losing 3/4.

Next year.

Bear f*cking down.

Nah fam...the front 4 is shit and the LBs are average, (tho Sanborn is easy to cheer for)

The offense will be fine. Great runners, dare I say it, but a PLAYMAKING young TE, and hopefully Chase and Mooney will grow together.

The passing game is still really on Fields. He is excellent at extending plays, but fucking terrible at executing them under the prescribed order and timing. Blame that on the weapons all ya want, but he has a huge part in that deficiency.

This game came down to terribly lopsided officiating, a stooooopid fucking pick six, and our offense deciding to pack it in up six on our final drive.

Oh, and our D being godawful, tho you could argue that Sanborn's pick should've been the death knell.

Pretty sure he had at least a sack and a half too. Should've been a Defensive Player of the Week stat line.

But hey, let's just go ahead and give credit where credit is due...

Cole Kmet, the last 3 games? 11 catches, 126 yards, 5 TDs.

Looking kinda studly. I mean...I don't wanna go as far as saying he's any good or has any playmaking ability en sech, cuz that would be outrageous, but credit where credit is due en sech.:D

If he keeps doing this we should pitch in and get bdubs a custom "Playmaker" 85 jersey.

He does seem finally start earning his 2nd round draft status, altho he's got to make sure and do so consistently. He's not there yet, but he's at least making strides.

Kid is magic

But he needs to take less hits
gotta take some of the simple throws. I don't know about the rest of you, but he made the great run in the second half after his pick 6, but did anyone else notice that other than that run he seemed to want to stand in the pocket more in the second half? Did he get clocked somewhere along the way? I mean I like this coaching staff because they at least seem cognizant and make adjustments in the second half of games, just looked like that was one of them.

Either way, its supposed to be what we want, good football, finding keepers on the roster, which sandborn seems to be one of, and keep moving up the draft board. Prove pittsburg right and make our second round pick higher than green bays. Save our wins for green bay and philly this year. Will do more than ending up 8-9 will.

Cole Kmet is the first Bear with consecutive 2-TD reception weeks since 1964.

Kids' playmaking ability is now in the record books. :heh:

Yes...and it was caused the Detroit's defensive adjustments. They did their very best to take the route to the edges away as getting the corner is Fields' greatest weapon. That's why some of the designed runs in the 2nd half were draws rather than edge runs.

The problem with the offense when Fields has to stay in the pocket is the line can't straight up pass block to save their lives.

Really nice stretch for the kid. He's impossible not to like thanks to his attitude and toughness.

He's easy to be happy with when you realize he's far more Kyle Rudolph than he is Travis Kelce. When you're a realist about his talents....you can enjoy the production.

Kyle Rudolph is the ceiling for about 99% of TE prospects tbh. Kelce/Shannon Sharpe/Tony Gonzalez/Ben Gates types are the exception. So that's an easy compromise to make.

14 pt lead with a would-be redzone pick midway thru the 4th...frustrating af
It's completely demoralizing. I also am not comforted by the "We're rebuilding! Who cares!? Better for our pick anyway!" stuff. This is a young team that could get a lot out of figuring out ways to win close games, instead of shitting them away. This is a football team that has now blown three late 4th quarter leads and has seen 5 of their 7 losses come in extremely close one score games that went to the wire. The final wild card spot in the NFC is at 5-4 (and we've beaten them head to head). This didn't have to be a totally lost season for this group. I realize we aren't actually going anywhere with this roster, but competing into December and playing games that "matter" could have been fantastic for them.

I understand that our D is awful and we traded away the two veterans keeping it within the realm of (remote) respectability. It doesn't bother me that they suck (outside of when I'm actually forced to watch them get torched). Yes, the refs flagging us with tic tac calls while ignoring holds and other flags on Detroit was infuriating. However, keeping it to this team... I find the following very troubling.

- This team runs the ball fantastically, until suddenly we have a lead in the 4th quarter. TWICE. We went 3 and out with a chance to eat up clock.
- Fields is 0 for 4 in potential game winning/tying drive scenarios (0 for 5 if you count NYG's hail mary/lateral play, but that would be absurd). Fields can make plays through the air after the design has completely broken down and he can be an athlete. However, I have YET to see him be able to throw the ball well when the other team is expecting it. When he has to diagnose a defense, make a read, go through a progression, and throw. It typically results in him freezing in the pocket and then trying to spin around and run.

Like everyone, I stand in awe of Fields highlight reel plays. That being said, I don't know if much has changed on my opinion of him since the Washington game. Simply, Getsy changed the offense around him. He's an amazing athlete. He has a tall mountain to climb, though, in order to become a successful QB. I fear that he truly is now beginning to believe that he can have a successful long term career with this playing style. You can't just bypass learning the QB position with athleticism in the NFL. A) He's going to get hurt taking all of these hits. B) Teams will catch up to him. Especially good ones. C) He will never actually learn how to be a passer in this league and every time we find ourselves in a late game while trailing situation? That will catch up to him.

Not to mention, we have yet to see Fields play in a game where a defense limited him on the ground and forced him to throw. That will begin to happen. I have very little faith that the result will be pretty when it does.

I am very worried about the road that this Fields hype is leading us down. We're setting ourselves up to be emotionally and financially invested into a QB that has yet to show he can actually play the position. Far from "giving up" on him improving, but I feel like there is a lot of optimism swirling around this team that I just can't hop on board with.

Oh and for fumbling at the end of the Minny game.

Gotta remember that was on Fields too.

Yep. Shame on him for not calling PI when it's PI and for not catching the ball.

When will the kid learn?
I agree with him to an extent. Obviously, the Bears have been jobbed pretty hard the last few weeks by officials. It's been egregious and blatant. But there has been, and still is, a visible hesitancy in him to trust SOMETHING in the designed play, be it blocking, inability of receivers, etc...and we can't continue to blame every other position but him. He is an absolute beast on the field. Best athlete on the field in any given game. That is something that we all have acknowledged since the beginning. While I think his running ability is a DOMINANT weapon, and that said weapon can get him 2 PASSING TD's a game based solely on good play design based off of said threat. We all know it's not sustainable.

He needs to improve within the confines of the game.

With that said, y'all know my opinion...run that mule till he's retarded enough to start a multi-state dogfighting ring.

He definitely needs to improve. But to say he’s 0-4 in attempted game winning drives isn’t even close to honest. He completed a pass in Minnesota and the receiver fumbled. There were a couple drops and a missed PI against Washington. Another missed PI against the Dolphins and then a perfect pass simply dropped.

The kid needs to improve at a lot of things. Meanwhile since week 8 he’s second in passing touchdowns thrown in the league and #1 in QBR I believe.

We are literally watching a young QB gain confidence and do things most QBs can’t do weekly.

His pick 6 yesterday was horrendous. He knows that. Everyone knows that. The 4th quarter wasn’t good. He has to play better than that especially against the worst defense in football.

But he’s a better QB right now than he was just 6 weeks ago. That’s important. That shows growth.

No one wants to talk about the fact that he’s in his first year in a new offense. On his third offense in 3 years. Coming off his first NFL offseason where he was QB1 the entire time. All of that matters. All of that plays a role.

The Bears offense is scoring points. And last I checked that was the point of the game. Imagine Fields with another weapon or two. With better pass blocking. With more experience in this offense. And with a defense that doesn’t shit the bed and leave every receiver on the field open. Could be pretty damn good.

The D is awful, fosho. That front four is as bad as there's been in Chicago in some time.

If you guys want to sign up for the Lamar Jackson/Michael Vick show...

Be the fucking fools who go willingly and see it.

I know from history how it ends.

You're all worthy of contempt. How don't you see where this ends?
