Rondo is going to be great for dallas and those shooters. Ellis is going to get a lot of open shots. I really do like this move for the Mavs. Best team in the west talent wise I think. Overall at the starting 5. Spurs are still the spurs come playoff time but Mavs just got a lot better right now.

Got to give Cuban credit for getting Rondo on the cheap but the Mavs are nowhere as deep as the Spurs.

Danny boy fell asleep. They could have gotten a better deal.
Rondo has been on the trade market for years. That was the best deal he was getting.

A really interesting trade. Dallas got better no doubt but I still think that the lineup has issues. They have players with some really obvious strengths and weaknesses. Good ball movement teams will find holes against them. At some point in the playoffs, Rondo is going to have to hit jumpers like Kidd did for Dallas and that might likely be the difference between winning and losing. Dallas also doesn't have anyone to guard Durant.

But you're also giving Rick Carlyle a weapon and he is the type of guy that will put Rondo in a place to succeed. They are probably the 5th best West team imo

Excellent trade for the Mavericks, in my opinion. They just got a Hell of a lot more dangerous.

Rondo is the real winner here. He knows Cuban cannot give up assets just for a 6 month rental . Rondo could get a max out of Dallas. Cuban cannot let him walk.

Boston could have got more for him earlier, but Danny wanted Love.

The 13m trade exception Wright and the round 1 pick is the return

I agree. It wouldn't make sense to get rid of Rondo. Dirk has 2-3 years tops so that window closes so the 'Rondo + scorers' window stays open.

Yeah Clayton i suspect it's a 5 year 100m deal come June.

Celts now have to decide if they can make Wright a rim protector

It's Smarts team now

I take it that the Celtics are in full tanking mode now, but doesn't this give Dallas too many players? That's going to make it so they have 21?

TLF by default u could say its a tank. But celtics record was no worse with rondo than without him. Rondo was very up and down, but up if it was a nationally televised game. Cornbread stated tonite everyone is happy with the change. I am guessing even Wright will be happier as we will get a chance to see if he is a starter.

Everyone wins. How many of you remember the old CBS days when I was in love with this guy.

And Danny got him in the late first round via Pheonix. That was a genius move at the time

maybe a bias from my end..but thought the laker deal was better from a draft pick standpoint. mavs may or not be finals material. but that pick is easily no better than 24 or so each year. the lakers even if you add rondo im not so sure they make playoffs as 8th seed. Brandon wright despite his ratings is a career backup.

Eh, not really. It depends on what pick they would have sent. I think the only ones eligible for trade are the one they get from Houston this year (most likely in the 20s) or distant future picks (like around 2019). So that pick could be good or could be bad. It's so far off its just an unknown. The Mavs deal was the superior package.

That trade works good for both Dallas and Boston better than Boston and the Lakers. Dallas has draft picks to offers. All of the Lakers have been traded away already. The Lakers bet the store on Nash and Howard and lost

Looks like the Mavs are going to sign FA big man Jermaine Oneal to help with the loss of Wright. I'd also expect Cuban to try and trade either Devin or Felton and picks for another bench piece. I think the trade is going to make Dallas a threat to come out of the west because Rondo will be a great fit. Dallas can space the floor with Dirk and Parsons, Ellis and Rondo will be able to drive and score(Ellis) or kick (Rondo) and on D, Rondo is a huge upgrade over Nelson

FYI I was on a flight with jermaine going to Germany. He was headed to the same clinic Kobe uses in offseason. Too funny. One is doing well with the procedures and one is not

Just learned that the deal most likely by conditions moves the round 1 pick out to 2016. Danny had it designed so if pick was in latter part of round the mavs kept it. Hence spreading picks out and getting it to be a potentially higher pick and value. There is no way Boston can roster these picks.

Gotta believe Boston will propose a 4 or 5 draft pick deal for a stud in a low fan base city

All Dallas gave up really were two picks that we would have sold or wasted anyways, a PG that isn't good anymore, a 6 month rental of Wright, and Crowder who I'm thrilled to have gone.

Fordman I disagree. Cuban getting rejected will set off fireworks like Dwight's departure in LA. They will go all in with a max deal or near that
