Whether it fits of not isn't the issue. Many people are called things that they aren't. The question is, are you accusing anyone that uses the label 'thug' for Richard Sherman, a racist.

with his antics of the last several days, sherman has made himself the face of the seahawks to the casual fans for this game.

i was watching business news this morning, either cnbc or fbn, and the anchor people were talking about the game and one of the ladies said to the other, "so, who is going to win? Peyton or Sherman?"

I think usually $100 million + people watch the game every year but most of them would be considered 'casual' fans who only know the 'big name' players. Sherman is definitely making a 'name' for himself. I'm just not sure it's a good name.

Plus, it was a lot more words than Thug. The OP amd media just chose that particular quote out of an entire interview.

Of course he is. He hates that word used against him and that is 100% in line with the commercial saying the same message.


What about the actor Jaime Fox. He did a movie that had the word "****er" in it. Does that mean he condones the use of that word too?

new Sherman interview to air tonight on CNN

CNN:
Sherman showed up for a sit-down with CNN's Rachel Nichols, an exclusive interview that will air in its entirety Friday night on CNN's "Unguarded."

Sherman turned the spotlight on to him, making himself the victim, defending his actions and saying that what he regretted most was the way the media covered his rant. He also said he was shocked by the racist responses he received.

"For the people who did react that way and throw the racial slurs and things like that out there, it was really sad. Especially that close to Martin Luther King Day."
"I learned we haven't come as far as I thought we had," Sherman added. "I thought society had moved past that."

The commenters, he said, were out of bounds.
"They had time to think about it," he said. "They were sitting at a computer and they expressed themselves in a true way."

"Regardless of how that interview goes, it doesn't give you the right to say -- the things they were saying. And that's the part that's sad."
