It might make sense if they could pick up Romo on the cheap.

You don't think Romo would actually sign with Washington, if a free agent, do you? I'm fairly certain Jerry would never trade him to Washington.

Washington couldn't be that stupid...could they?

Shirley they franchise him another year IF they can't ink him to a long term deal.
Washington knows better than most what life is like with a below average QB
If they trade Cousins, they officially take over Cleveland's position as joke of the NFL...

I'd actually like to see that, just so all the Redskins fans that ragged on Romo for a decade would suddenly be in love with him...

No thanks!

Unlike many here, I still believe Romo has a little bit left in the tank. He has been beat up, and the number of broken bones is concerning, but I chalk a lot of it up to bad luck. It was only one series, but the ball was coming out of Romo's hand pretty nice against Philly.

Much rather see Romo land in the AFC somewhere.

By "a little bit left in the tank", do you mean as a backup in Dallas? Or a potential starter on another team?

While I think Cousins is the definition of average, the Redskins can't trade him. They have no alternatives. He'll get overpaid just like other mediocre NFL QBs.

funny....I don't see all these weapons
good players at receiver but not game changers
not all that good oline play and basically no run game or defense

opinion vary I guess

Plus, DJax and Garcon are both free agents. DJax has been rumored back to the Eagles since about midseason.

Cousins would have to be under contract for a trade to happen. They could franchise him but what idiot trades for player that is under a franchise tag deal? Chip is no longer in S.F. he would be stupid enough to do it. So I am sure SF fans are breathing a sigh of relief.

Yep...they could do a sign and trade deal NBA style. I could see that happening if SF is willing to part with #2 overall and maybe #66...1st, 3rd and maybe a '18 4th....if WAS tries to gouge then it won't happen.

Really good QBs under 30 are too valuable and hard to come by. He has to be kept.

I think Romo can play at a high level for another year, maybe two. Somewhere else most likely. Dallas' cap situation is not ideal.

Average QB who has beaten your team 4 times in a row.

Yeah, but if I'm Cousins, why would I go to a sorry SF team that is giving up picks? He has the power over the Skins, they can franchise him or say bye bye

Don't think I buy this one. SF doesn't even have a GM.

Maybe Cleveland, but not SF.

They have already stated that they will franchise him if they don't come to an agreement. Also - they could franchise him early on as both sides work on agreement that they sign a few months later. In all likelihood they extend him long term. They have had QB issues for too long to not keep someone who at least provides stability and a fair amt of good play. Don't get too caught up in media reports many of which are from sources who are not remotely close to Cousins or the Redskins.

Actually he doesn't have much leverage because of the tag.

WAS still controls where he goes.

Why SF? That I can't answer...doesn't seem too inviting to me. It would have to be a hard sell job by Shanny, but I'm sure he's looking at what Shanny has done in ATL and whatever influence he had on him while in DC.

I disagree. They can keep him, but who is gonna trade high picks for a guy on a tag?

Nobody.

Agree it's not ideal, but if it happened it would have to be a sign and trade which could happen.

It's expensive, but my main point was money aside, WAS is still in the driver's seat as long as they have tag rights.

Washington has the money to tag Cousins again....not a big deal other than the risk he wants no part of Washington after 2017. Dallas fans are enjoying this after all the crap Washington fans spewed about Romo over the years.
