Why is this becoming something that is making the news now then? Just trying to figure out why now of all times this is coming out.

It's the bloated sports media looking for something to report. That being said, it was a pretty sleazy move by the Pats org and they should be accountable for it.

It seems to me a news story that got swept under the rug because it painted one of the top organizations in the NFL in a very bad light. Now that this stuff is being investigated some of the dirty laundry is beginning to rear its ugly face. Not saying it is a huge news story per say but it still is some news that to me makes me wonder why it took this long for it to even be mentioned. Plus the fact that the 2 major sports networks in ESPN and NFL Network seem to be trying to make this look like nothing where the other major news networks are making more out of it makes me think they are still trying to cover this up as much as possible. More of the stop looking over here and remember that Johnny Manziel is starting this week kind of thing.

A legitimate question to the peanut gallery; why is it that so many people want to believe the Pats are the only team doing these sorts of things? I just can't wrap my head around that conclusion. Every team in this league wants to win. The successful franchises take it to another level. Chances are if your team is successful, they aren't exactly following the rules but are looking and finding loopholes to do so. I don't think that's a pessimist view but a realistic one.

Not saying other teams are innocent but I also have seen where other teams went the opposite direction of this and gave players signing bonuses when they didn't have to. Or like with the Bengals this year keeping Devon Stills on the team so that he can health insurance for his little girl. I think Seattle gave some player with an injury his money even though they legally were not obligated. So again when you hear stories like that from top teams like Seattle where they don't have to try and cheat these players out of money then it makes me think not every team is doing this of trying to cover up injuries or word them in a way to not have to pay a player. See here we are not just talking about video taping another team and breaking league rules...we are actually talking about criminal charges that could be brought up of knowingly trying to cheat somebody out of money. If your job did that to you of knowing that you are owed some money but doing everything possible to not pay wouldn't you be pretty darn upset? I actually had one of my college jobs try to do this to me where I was loading a piece of furniture and tore my rotator cuff. When I went to my boss her first words were "you can't prove that happened here at this job so don't plan on filing for workers comp.

Almost 100 posts of Pats fans saying this is made up and this didn't happen, and now in the matter of a few minutes you are not just admitting that it did happen but are saying "who cares, let's talk football"?

Give me a break. The topic of this thread is still valid...the Pats did something to screw over a player. Had they not, there wouldn't be a settlement to buy silence.

So what's? The player got paid what he wanted. Everybody's happy except Patriots haters. A lot of players signed since this happened, so nobody's getting "turned off" by playing for them including Revis. So wether you like it or not, this will be a non issue. Still trying to figure out if I'm some troll that was banned before?

I can agree with that. We are talking about integrity. That's something I'm not sure Kraft and Company have. Let's be fair. Bill is hand strung by his boss. When he is gone is when people will finally realize that the coach doesn't own the team or make its policies. He has constraints, just like any other employee does.

At this point I think everyone has just thrown their hands up with this franchise TBH. It's impossible to monitor all the shit they do and even when caught, there's zero accountability so what's the use. They get a free 1st-round playoff bye just for showing up. What are you gonna do?! :noidea:

Honestly Hammer, do you actually believe the shit that you have posted in this thread? I understand if you're just stirring up shit to raise post counts, but if not, this is just pathetic. :L

I'm not blaming BB in this at all. I'm sure he could care less whether a player gets the bonus or not. The money side of things is not his concern. Kraft on the other hand is about as shady as they come in my opinion. I mean don't get me wrong he does whatever he can to put out a great product every year but he does seem to like to not just bend the rules but flat out break them and hope he doesn't get caught. Not saying other owners haven't done the same thing but it does seem like he is the one getting caught over and over so either he does it more often or he is the only one dumb enough to get caught on a regular basis.

Now I will say with BB he is one that likes to play in the gray area as well. He has been the constant one to use the injury report to his advantage making it very difficult to know who is healthy and who is not. Nothing completely illegal about that by NFL rules but he definitely works to play as many mind games as possible.

According to Fordham, he's not "cool" person to talk to either. Makes you wonder what his REAL agenda is

Or it actually is nothing.

In today's world people tend to react before knowing the whole story or even read more than a headline. If you are on Facebook or Twitter you see it on a daily basis.

There has always been more to the story than the players side of things. Why would any team want to pay 3.5 mil for a player who didn't disclose an injury when signing and was never going to be able to play for the team? So they in turn did what the could to get their money back.

Both sides are in the wrong. Yet because of the team involved people are gladly jumping the gun that it's some "unprecedented" situation by the evil Patriots. It's the sexier story than the full story of what happened.

A lot of grey area here but the "hammer downs" of the world aren't going to care...so be it goes with the territory.

Because there is NFL medical stuff going on with the DEA so the NFL is submitting court papers on all things medical. The discussion of this is something that was submitted with all that, and picked up on.

And only discusses the players side of the issue. Media today doesn't do a lot of critical thinking. They run with stories that will get the most hits. Having an in depth story on both sides of the story isn't as sexy. Making it about the "shady" Pats alone is an easy short story that will get lots of hits. A player hiding an injury to get one last payday is not that interesting to most.

Again why bother right? If you hate the Pats you don't want to know the full story anyway. You want to just hear how evil THEY are.

Well, I just did some further reading on this, thanks to SonnyCID's link. I can't provide a direct link since I'm on my iPhone, but if you read that link, then click on the link that said they reached an agreement in the summer of 2013. You'll see that this is old news, and the man got paid. This case is over and has been over for awhile now. So no fines, no suspensions, time to talk football lol

Not really, it's been settled. But hey, haters gotta hate.
