Well, I will give kudos to the effort last night...
but it's close races like this that keep bringing the same question to mind...
"How (or when) do we stumble down the stretch?"

That always happens...well, most of the time; we lucked out two years ago, but REGARDLESS...
around here, we just anticipate the drop so much, it's like the weather changing. You know it's coming, but the forecasters aren't sure of the specific time.

This Houston series can still make or break us...we just await the break.

They're more than welcome to prove me wrong, sure...if they can.

if the m's can win their final 4 games, they can still finish at 52% and that's almost as good as 54%. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

on a side note, maybe stanton will indeed end up having to eat that $12 million owed to garver next year. his 'classic" performance tonight makes it seem impossible that he'd be on the roster next year, even a roster as patethic, vapid, and feckless as this one. its not much pleasure to konw that Stanton may have to light $12 million on fire, but hey, it's literally all we have.

remember, houston ate $40 million a little way into this season by DFA'ing two players to make their team better. look where it got them.

i think it takes a lot of faith to think they'll hold onto much of the great pitching much longer.

i think it's still 50/50 on whether or not they fire jerry this offseason. Stanton pulled off 2 PR stunts to deflect criticism of owners, the Dan/Edgar happy happy joy joy orgie, and the presser announcing Jerry would stay on.

since all stanton has ever done is lie through his teeth, i don't know how anybody could think jerry getting canned isn't still a distinct possibility.

they're probalby going to have to eat $12 million with garver, and my bet is that IF they get rid of Jerry, they'll get that money back and a whole lot more by selling good pitching for straight up cash. then let the new GM push the "rebuilding" essentially from scratch while mentioning Dan and Edgar as much as possible. that puts all of the misery from the past 2 years to the background, and gets our idiot fanbase all optimistic again.

even if they keep Jerry on, he's going to have no choice now but to trade vital pieces of our pitching to try to get bats. he'll get owned of course. no good hitting FA will come here unless they get spectacularly overpaid. we have to spectacularly overpay dogshit to come here lol.

again, this team is and always will be nowhere with this ownership group. can't wait to see the record profits they made for FY 2024!
