BTW -- Can you imagine Dusty's approach to a one game playoff? I'm fairly certain he would start Bronson.

If there's any doubt after last night, Dusty should be removed. Frazier is hitting. Period. Rolen can't even make it to his turn AB without getting injured!

Homer was flat DEALING last night. 8th inning and he was sitting at 95-97 on his FB. Just blowing it by guys. He was FIRED up.

Also, one of the reasons this teams stuggles with RISP is that we have guys in the bottom of the order that struggle at times to make contact. If Baker would just leave Bruce batting 4th and move BP to leadoff he could move Cozart down in the order along with Frazier and Hinigan, and that would add a bat in the lower order that can at least make contact.

Also...Cairo has been the man for 2 years for us, but damn. He lost it. He looks really old at the plate.

Homer was awesome last night, I just wish that Homer would show up a little more consistently......he's got to get over pitching in GABP, as long as he's a Red half his starts are going to be there.......

You know what is crazy is...I read a scouting report done by a few guys and basically, Hamilton is a terrible base-runner. He steals bases based on pure speed.

They said his pick-off/timing recognition is bad. His jumps are worse. Yet, despite everyone in the park knowing he's running, he is currently sitting at an 80% success rate with 100 steals and 20 CS.

What will be really scary is to think that he can be even better than he is now at stealing bases.

Then again, he could be the Jerome Simpson of pro baseball. If he never figures this out, he'll be toast. There are far too many pitchers with good moves and catchers with excellent arms in the bigs. He'll be exposed even at double A if he doesn't improve. Here's to hoping!

Too bad they couldn't beat the dodgers the last two nights...Ugh. Games they needed to win, really.

Oh well. Let's hope that they can sweep SD and then get out of the WC trip with a 7-4 record.

Oh, and don't get me wrong about Hamilton...I think he'll be just fine. I was pointing out just how fast the guy actually is. He is still young, and has plenty of time to work on the things needed to continue his ability to steal bases at higher levels of play. Remember, at the same age, Votto spent the entire year at A-ball. Hamilton, hitting and running, is already ahead of his pace.

Let's hope that he'll continue to improve his ability to read pitchers, work better leads, and parlay that into better jumps. Once he does that, he's going to be darn near impossible to stop.

I think I read somewhere that, from the right side of the plate (he's a switch hitter) his time on a hit ball in play to 1st base is 3.2 seconds. Taking into consideration the follow through of a swing, and starting out roughly an extra foot or so from 1st when batting right handed.

Where is he going to play, though? Cozart and Phillips seem pretty entrenched in the middle infield (particularly Phillips). Seems like it might be a good idea to give Hamilton some PT in left field while he's coming up because there doesnt seem to be any vacancies in the mid infield in the foreseeable future.

If they really want to compete they need to pick up a professional hitter or two for the stretch run. We need a left fielder, we need to bench Stubbs and we need someone that can lead off. Any ideas?

They've been saying that the potential is in the OF as CF or LF. We'll see, I guess.

Lots of time between now and then. Most projections don't have him MLB ready until 2015. John Fay said that he could see 2014 if he moves to the OF, but again...lots of time for things to play themselves out.

A lot of projections also have Cozart moving to 3B with Gregorious taking over the SS role. The guy is a gold glove calibur player, but the question is whether he'll hit or not.

If that were to happen, Frazier could move to LF...pushing back the need for Hamilton...so, it all depends on how it plays out. Should be interesting.

No kidding BD! Easy E will rock out his first complete game shutout tonight. Watch.

As far as bats, I would love to see them go after Willingham. I'm not sure how much we have left to offer in their eyes, but we do have some really good young players. That's really part of the issue. Reds do have good talent, the problem is most of it is at the High A or AA level. A lot of teams are going to want AAA and MLB type ready talent, and that is something the Reds will lack.

If the twins can be pursuaded to see a bit more long-term, then the Reds definately have some extra pieces to make a decent offer. Just depends on what the twins are looking at.

We are weak, relatively, in two of three outfield positions, though Ludwig is starting to hit......it should now be clear that neither Stubbs nor Heisey are the answer in CF.....
