Thing is he pitches consistently at 97, effortlessly.....I agree that humping up pitch after pitch trying to set a speed record is problematic.....he can still occasionally reach back for 100+ when he really needs it......he's not just throwing strikes now, they're low strikes, and he's one of two guys in baseball who can consistently pitch at 97-98 (the other being Justin Verlander, arguably the best in the game). Plus when he throws the slider and splitter for strikes, that only makes the heater more awesome. They stretched him out all spring to start, and they need to put him into the rotation to stay...every start Bailey makes is another wasted opportunity to start Chappy......

Marvin Lewis advocates keeping him in the bullpen.

I was also in the Club today. Who knew that I was rubbing elbows with good ol' kramer?

How good was that salmon though?

He's already dialed it down. His fastest pitch was 97 mph (ONLY 97) today. I don;t buy into pitch counts or inning limits, either. Guys pitched 300 innings before back in the day. Medical tech. is better. Training is better. Conditions are better. He can start now and be fine all year. He was a starter in Cuba....

He's absolutely unhittable. It's disgusting. He's Randy Johnson.

He'd throw his slider a lot more, as well as the change-up (I think) that he's been working on. He wouldn't throw as many FB's as he does when he's relieving.

Kramer, while you're right about all the medical tech...pitchers today are throwing more and harder than they did 30-40 years ago "back in the day". Also, you didn't have the glut of youth games that you have now, putting an extra 2-3 years worth of strain on a kids arm before he even hits High School.

Latos blows. He's Volquez, except he doesn't throw as hard.

The Reds are having trouble hitting today. I'm shocked. Nobody saw this coming.

Today? Try all year, thus far.

Kramer and I have both repeatedly said that the offense was not as good as the numbers indicated last year with being the 2nd highest scoring team. It was completely misleading.

More often than not, last year, the Reds scored 3 or fewer runs than they scored 5 or more. The problem was, they scored so many runs in that small % of games, it balanced out their terrible low scoring games, even though there were more of them.

Leftfield is still a black hole, as well as Centerfield, when talking about offense.

Rolen isn't helping with his .100 average.
