Which is fucking ridiculous. The Yankees are the team most capable of taking on that risk and absorbing the issue if it goes bad. Had they gotten Scherzer, maybe the would have won the division and who knows what would have happened then.
Two words for you Red Sox fans - Carl Crawford. Price is a happy go lucky thin skinned guy. He is not a good fit for Boston. As soon as he has a couple of bad outings and the press and fans start bitching at him, it will go down hill.

Hi, The Moose. I'm not a Red Sox fan.

I'm not saying that he thinks it was a home run, but I doubt he looks as it like a bed shitting.

They got four very good years from him, including a championship. Plus, from a business standpoint, there's all the other shit to consider - how much Sabathia swag did they sell, how did jumping out and nabbing a huge free agent impact the Yankees "brand."

The thing with the Yankees is money is a resource they can afford to "waste" more than any other team. I'm convinced they could easily support a payroll north of $350MM if they wanted to.
The original contract for CC was a home run for the Yankees. The extension was a mistake.

Man, imagine Bumgarner and Grienke at the top of that rotation. That is taking your rival's best pitcher and making him your own.

I still don't think that they will do it since they are in the tank for Cain's contract and I think they are just playing games with The Dodgers.

I don't care either way, but it would be fun to see a bitter rival sign away their best pitcher and whether he succeeds or fails would be a fun story either way.

BTW, If Grienke does end up with HOF numbers, what hat do you put on him? The dude is a straight up mercenary.

Well if he resigns with the Dodgers it's probably the dodgers.

And that's a little unfair since he has only left 1 team due to FA. He was traded to MIL for a package that basically build a big part of the core of the WS teams for KC (Escobar and CAin, and Odorizzi was traded in the Shields/Wade Davis deal).

Honestly that's one of the best trade deadline acquisitions on the sellers side in recent memory.

I wouldn't disagree with that, but I still think that evaluated as a whole, it's not nearly the regret in the Yankees front office that fans seem to think it is.

I know. That wasn't directed at you. It was more to any Red Sox fans who check this thread out.

Regardless, now that you've quoted me, and then addressed Yankees Lite fans, I have to go home and take a shower.

Yeah, I agree. Fans tend to be short sighted. They are looking at the broken down CC they have now. They forget about all the great starts and all the innings they got from him.

Yes I did. Had friends and family to the house. Great meal. Drank a lot of very good wine. How about you?

Yep. It was a smaller deal, there were only ten of us (usually, our Thanksgiving is 25 or so).

Had it at my parents and my turkeys got sabotaged. I deep fry one and roast one. We brined the roasting turkey and then I went over in the morning to rub it with herb butter, told my mom to put it in the roaster at 2:30 for a 6:30-7:00 dinner, and then went home. We got to my parents at 4:00 and I stuck a thermometer in the roasting turkey and it was done. Moms put it in at noon because she was afraid it wouldn't be done...

Then the burner for the deep fryer malfunctioned, so we had to use an electric turkey fryer that just couldn't stay up to temp. It cooked but lacked the crispy crust.

That's probably more than you wanted to know, but I'm a DLFL champion, so cut me some slack.

Sorry your turkeys didn't work out the way you wanted. A friend use one of those electric ones and was pretty happy with the results. I didn't have any so I don't know if it was crispy or not. We brined and roasted one and smoked the other. Both came out very well.

Damn. I forgot you had a smoker. I bet that was fucking good. What wood, what temp, how long?

Apple wood is my favorite for turkey. I try to keep it around 220 and it was a small bird so 6 hours with one refill on the water pan. Fortunately the outside temp was warm. If it's a cold day - like under 65 it takes a lot longer. I did a 14 lb bird once and it took 9 hours.

These are not George Steinbrenner's Yankees anymore so don't expect them to react to the Red Sox signing of David Price. Sources continue to indicate the Yankees won't be big players in the free agent market. After the massive deals of Mark Teixeira, Carlos Beltran, Alex Rodriguez and CC Sabathia come off the books over the next two years, maybe they will be big free agent players again. Overall, the Yankees want to become younger and they know they can't do that through free agency. As for this winter, the Yankees will continue to try to improve through trades.

Greinke is two years older, otherwise, I would all but guarantee that he's going to get more. He's got better numbers.

I'm interested to see what he gets. I'm leaning toward more for Greinke.

The Cubs have a shitload of money to spend if they want to.
The Cubs have interest in trading for Shelby Miller too. The Braves want Soler or Baez at a minimum.
