If you take this year's WC out of the equation, they haven't made the playoffs in 3 seasons.

Isn't the point of FIP to better filter ERA so that it's more focused on the pitcher rather than the team around him? In that case, all that difference proves is that Washington is shitty defensively.Nice cherry, Danny!
Strasburg's ERA is almost a full run over Greinke's and pitched 13% less innings.
That said and as crazy as this sounds, I don't consider $25MM/yr a mega deal and if Strasburg has a good year, I'd say he'd get that for sure.
What the fuck is an FIP?

If you take this year's playoff berth out of the equation, the Blue Jays haven't made the playoffs since I was finger banging Little Susie Rotten Crotch in the high school dark room my sophomore year.
I'm not into alternate history.
85 wins wouldn't have gotten you a WC spot in any 3 of those seasons. And in the 3 seasons prior they averaged 96 wins, and in 2 of those 3 seasons there were 3 90-game winners in the AL East (the other season Boston had 89).They averaged more than 85 wins per season those three years and one 3rd place and two 2nd place ALE finishes.
Well, shit, say that about any stat.Yes, that's the point. Whether it's effective at doing that is the question.
Fielding Independent Pitching. They're trying to measure the pitcher and eliminate the effects of good/bad fielding.

They've definitely fallen off. The silver lining is their farm is pretty healthy and those players are starting to break in. That would obviously go a long way toward mitigating the effect that ageing has had on their roster.

He's better than Zito though.Barry Zito just filed suit against him for stealing his schtick...
I'm still getting used to WHIP
FTR I would have Grienke over Stras sooner than you could make Little Susie squirt.
Before this season the Jays had won 85 games+ 4 times in their past 12 seasons. 0 playoff appearances. As soon as I catch my breath from laughing so hard at the notion of a Blue Jays fan considering an 85-86 win team to be no where near competitive, I'll respond to this post.
And I never said "not competitive",
I just think they don't see the potential to contend next season
It's illogical to equate the Yankees of 2013-2015 to the WS-era Yankees
easily.
