Maybe this was addressed already, but did the NFL and the Ravens have access to this video when they handed down the initial ruling and the Ravens stood by their RB? I have to believe they did, how could they not. Did the police and everyone else just happen upon the video today? I doubt it.

I agree. First off, why would you suspend him without investigating more and making sure you had all the information and evidence there was i.e. the video from inside the elevator.

Secondly, the reaction now that people are having after seeing that video and calling for Ray Rice to be gone for the entire year if not more is ridiculous. Why this reaction now? What did you think happened in that elevator before this video was released? Did you think she slipped and fell and knocked herself out? No. Ray Rice knocked her the fuck out.

So for anybody to just now wanting more punishment for Ray Rice after seeing that video, INCLUDING the NFL and the Ravens is plain stupid. You're a little late to the party and you look like an idiot.

Not that I feel bad for Ray Rice (who would?), but why is he subject to a revised punishment, while others are not? Perhaps Goodell will come out later and give a separate justification, such as Rice lying to NFL investigators or whatnot, and he'll say that it did not come to light until he saw the video today (yeah, right!).

I thought the initial suspension was too light, but then I thought, well I don't really know at all what happened. I figured the NFL and the Police and the Ravens went thru everything and were privy to stuff I was not, and figured that there was an altercation, but somehow his fiance was a big part of it, thus the light suspension.

There aren't many scenarios that I can imagine where it would be ok to knock your fiance out, but there are some. I guess maybe I thought they were arguing and in true proud black sista style (complete stereotype) she was coming at him guns blazing and he pushed her or something more self defense motivated and she fell and hit her head, or something along those lines.

I did NOT expect to see him just standing there and lay her the fuck out with a left hook to the face. After seeing that, I don't even really know what to say. the police, nfl and ravens have explaining to do, but now that rice is gone, they're going to try and make this go poof like a fart in a stiff breeze.
