I don't know why the video changes anything. We already knew he knocked her out in the elevator. Is the NFL rule that if they hear about it, two game suspension, but if they see it, indefinite suspension?

Who's we and how did you know...when the vast majority of people were simply making assumptions?

Oh, Bruce Lee? Good point...

Yeah. She's a black belt. Not many people know that. She probably pulled that ninja shit on him before. Good thing he got the drop on her or he could have been seriously hurt.

Rice probably told her to drop it....or else.

Nah. He just convinced her that there was more money in making this thing go away and them staying together. The best laid plans ....

dont know how accurate it is, this article is from January of this year and it says Ravens are at 17, Bengals and Vikings leading the way with 40

It does though. The video garnered a larger public and media response which then forced Goodell and the Ravens to do something, lest they look bad.

Unless there is a video of him knocking out his GF he'll probably just get the 6 game suspension. That's if he is proven guilty.

Point is he is in the second worst place you can be on this topic right now behind Ray Rice himself. You don't want to be the first person to test a new policy that could garner a lot of public backlash. The fact that Rice is now out of the league entirely is a hell of a wake up call to McDonald and anyone else involved in these cases.

I wouldn't expect McDonald to get more than 6 games, but with Harbaugh's statements about intolerance toward guys who hit women/children and she's pregnant? :L He has plenty to be worried about and the over reaction by the league is only part of it.

“Commissioner Roger Goodell has announced that based on the new video evidence that became available today, he has imposed an indefinite suspension on Ray Rice”

Sorry, but I have a really hard time believing this is the first time Goodell and/or anybody in the Ravens organization had seen that video.

Of course it wasn't the first time they had seen it. It was the first time the public saw it and could judge their inaction on it. Only reason they are doing anything today.

I hope this isn't true, but perhaps the violence of the sport is carrying over into the personal lives of some players.

but that's a crap excuse. Lots of players are perfectly capable of bringing hell on the field and acting like a normal adult off and it's not just with football. when there's a lack of accountability and when you start getting PED's and things involved, then players start to think nothing can touch them and they act and react anyway they feel like at any moment and it's ok. I hope they start holding all of them accountable for stuff on and off the field.

It doesn't have to be a gentleman's sport, but accountability and control can still be exercised by adult men. If it can't, I don't care to see them play football, they aren't worth it. It isn't hard to be a badass if you never have to control your aggression.

Got it. So you have no problem with domestic violence. You just have a problem with domestic violence on tape.

Don't be mad. If you need some help I'll help you through this.

Brandon Marshall has been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, and until he began receiving consistent treatment he was very volatile. But since he joined the Bears he has been receiving good therapy and a healthy dose of meds, and subsequently no problems. He has a disease...

What's Rice's problem? Better yet, a good compliment of the Ravens team??

Nobody is condoning domestic violence, but if throwing rocks in a glass house makes you feel better about your team then so be it.

I don't care who started the fight but it doesn't excuse Ray Rice for hitting her and then knocking her out cause it's gonna make this whole thing worse.

But they already knew about it, and in the NFL's case did something about it. That seems like they righting a wrong (their lax punishment of Rice) by committing another wrong (punishing him twice for the same incident).

Yep...All of this is just one, big misunderstanding after another:

Oct. 31, 2004: During his junior year at Central Florida, Marshall was arrested at a Denny’s restaurant in Orlando, Fla., on charges of assault on a police officer, disorderly conduct, trespass and resisting arrest without violence and refusal to obey. The charges were dismissed.

April 8, 2005: Marshall was charged with retail theft, a misdemeanor, after trying to return a stolen set of bed sheets, valued at $19.99, to a Burlington Coat Factory. The charge was dropped.

June 17, 2006: Marshall and longtime girlfriend Rasheedah Watley both filed police reports alleging physical abuse by the other in a long altercation at an Orlando apartment. No arrests or charges were made.

Jan. 1, 2007: Marshall was at the Denver nightclub Shelter with Broncos teammates Javon Walker and Darrent Williams, attending a birthday party for Nuggets forward Kenyon Martin. As the group left the club in a limousine, Williams was shot fatally in the neck by an unknown assailant. Walker later said the shooter was likely another man at the nightclub who was seeking retaliation after an altercation with Marshall's cousin that evening. Marshall testified at the trial of gunman Willie Clark that he helped escalate the dispute that led to Williams' death.

Jan. 24, 2007: According to the Denver Post, police interviewed Marshall and his father after an argument in an Orlando parking lot. Marshall claimed his father tried to hit him with his car. His father claimed Marshall had fired a gun. Both men declined to press charges.

March 18, 2007: In Atlanta, Watley told police Marshall punched her and took her purse while in a hotel. Marshall was gone before police arrived. No charges were filed.

March 21, 2007: According to the Denver Post, police in Palm Beach County, Fla., interviewed Marshall and Watley twice in the same night after two loud arguments. Both said the disturbances were not physical in nature. No arrests or charges were made.

March 26, 2007: Marshall was arrested in a Denver suburb on suspicion of domestic violence. Watley reported Marshall prevented a taxi she was in from leaving his house. Marshall completed anger management counseling and the charges were dropped two months later.

June 8, 2007: According to the Denver Post, two incident reports were filed by Atlanta police. A friend of Watley’s claimed Marshall hit her car and then threw a rock at the passenger door as Watley was riding in the passenger seat. Watley also told police Marshall cut her in the thigh and punched her in the face. She was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. Marshall was not present when police arrived. No charges were filed.

June 30, 2007: According to the Denver Post, Watley told Atlanta police Marshall punched and choked her at his condo. She had a bruise and scratches. Marshall was not present when police arrived. No charges were filed.

Oct. 22, 2007: Marshall was arrested in Denver and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He was pulled over driving the wrong way on a one-way street hours after a game. He later pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of driving while ability-impaired and was sentenced to one year of probation and 24 hours of community service.

March 6, 2008: Marshall was arrested on charges of misdemeanor battery in Atlanta after a dispute with Watley. She told police he punched her in the mouth and eye. Marshall said he cut his hand on glass.

Aug. 6, 2008: NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell suspended Marshall for three games for violating the league’s personal conduct policy. The suspension was reduced to one regular-season game and a fine of an additional game check, costing him $52,353.

March 1, 2009: Marshall was arrested in Atlanta on disorderly conduct charges after allegedly being involved in a dispute with then-fiancee, Michi Nogami-Campbell, now his wife. Charges were dropped the next day.

Aug. 14, 2009: Marshall was found not guilty on the battery charges from the March 2008 arrest in Atlanta.

April 23, 2011: Marshall was taken to Broward General Medical Center after Nogami-Campbell stabbed him in the abdomen at their Florida home. Nogami-Campbell told police she stabbed Marshall “out of self-defense.”

Sunday: Marshall is accused by a 24-year-old woman of punching her in the eye, leaving a black eye, in an altercation outside a club in New York. Marshall’s attorney says it was Marshall’s wife that was injured and says the couple are the true victims in the case.

Congratulations to the Revel Casino, whose lasting legacy and influence on AC lore will be this video of Ray Rice knocking his fiancee the fuck out.

B. Marsh has a past, and is fortunate to still be in the league, no doubt. That said, he has taken multiple proactive steps towards improving himself as a human, recently, and has been a model-citizen while with the Bears.

And it sucks, but its still allegations vs. video evidence.

He's too mad to think clearly Milkshake. Rice was probably on his fantasy team.

Don't be mad. If you need some help I'll help you through this.

No help needed here. Just pointing out to you that you do, indeed, have a serial woman beater on your team who I guarantee you have cheered for on a regular basis.

Yes they did, but they didn't do enough. And you're right, punishing him twice for the same thing isn't going to sit well with some folks. But knocking out your wife in an elevator sits a lot worse with a lot more people. Like I said the Ravens and NFL are just trying to get out of this in the best shape they can.

On March 26, 2007, Marshall was arrested in the Highlands Ranch suburb of Denver on suspicion of domestic violence after his girlfriend reported that following a domestic dispute, Marshall prevented a taxi she was in from leaving his house.Charges from the incident were later dismissed on May 25, 2007, after Marshall completed anger management counseling.

On March 1, 2009, Marshall was arrested in Atlanta for disorderly conduct after allegedly being involved in a fight with his fiancee, Michi Nogami-Campbell. Marshall was released on a $300 bond. The charges were dropped the following day.

On April 23, 2011, Marshall was stabbed near his stomach by his wife, Michi Nogami-Marshall. He was taken to a hospital and was released two days later. He has since made a full recovery.

On early Sunday, March 11, 2012, two days before his trade to the Bears, Marshall was accused of hitting a woman in the face at a New York club and being involved in a melee. The New York Post' stated that Marshall, his wife and some friends were at Marquee when a brawl ensued, and Marshall punched the woman below her left eye, although he may have been attempting to hit the woman's friends. The investigation later ended after a lack of evidence of Marshall's role in the incident.

As I stated in the other thread, where's the video of him knocking his crazy wife the fuck out?

Nobody knows what really happened in B. Marsh's cases...we know without a shadow of doubt what occurred in Rice's.

Yea. He is a real upstanding citizen. I'm sure he is completely innocent. I wonder how you would feel if he was a packer.

Not that I feel bad for Ray Rice (who would?), but why is he subject to a revised punishment, while others are not? Perhaps Goodell will come out later and give a separate justification, such as Rice lying to NFL investigators or whatnot, and he'll say that it did not come to light until he saw the video today (yeah, right!).

I have made it very clear how I feel about Ray Rice. I simply understand the problem did not begin with him, nor did it end with him.
