So we don't have actual talent on offense now? We must have had the greatest defense of all time to end up 13-3.
we had the best defense in the salary cap era

Wow.
We were also 11th in the league in scoring offensively. Or was that all just Alex?

what chances? the giants wr's got open ours didn't. once the giants covered vernon it was over with our passing game because nobody else can get the job done.
with the poor field conditions we should have been riding gore, that could have opened up things in the passing game. not to mention we wouldn't get stuck with so many 3rd and longs.
brees forcing the ball to a covered crabtree would be asking for trouble. at least guys like graham and colston can use their body to shield a defender. crabtree doesn't have the size, speed or route running ability.
I dont like crabtree either but he has 215 lbs on a 6 ft frame... why wouldnt he be able to shield off a db ?
Looks like keeping Brees might blow up some of the Saints roster.
Drew Brees - QB - Saints
According to Yahoo! Sports' Jason Cole, the Saints and free agent Drew Brees remain "roughly $5 million a year apart" on a new contract.
That's a lot of ground to make up by Monday's franchise tag deadline. The Saints could free up $5 million by restructuring Will Smith's contract, and another $11 million by cutting MLB Jonathan Vilma and DT Sedrick Ellis. If the Saints are forced to use the exclusive franchise tag on Brees, they run the risk of losing both Marques Colston and Carl Nicks.

our whole red zone offense was designed to set up akers
Lol...you're ridiculous.
how many times did we settle for a 1 yard run in the red zone? we played for the field goal unless we absolutely needed to score a td

BS. We actually threw a lot in the redzone.
Do you enjoy making shit up?
It's possible that had something to do with Smith's 40% completion percentage in the red zone (28% inside 10 yards), 2.5 YPA, and five sacks in 68-odd dropbacks.
We had 73 run plays (to RBs, anyway; can't recall any and arounds or fly sweeps in the red zone) in the red zone and over 66 pass plays (61 passes, five sacks, in addition to a few of Smith's six red-zone runs being scrambles). It's not as if we went completely one-dimensional when we got in close.
before this year smith had his best numbers in the red zone. the conservative play calling and the run game getting completely stuffed limited what we did.
throwing fade routes to ginn isn't gonna help anyone's red zone numbers.
