Because it's the offseason and I'm bored. From 2011-2020, how would I rank 1st round QBs that have busted? Let's find out.

1. Winston - TB, 2015 draft
2. Griffin - WAS, 2012 draft
3. Bortles - JAX, 2014 draft
4. Mariota, TEN 2015 draft
5. Gabbert - JAX, 2011 draft
6. Rosen - AZ, 2018 draft
7. Weeden - CLE, 2012 draft
8. Manuel - BUF, 2013 draft
9. Ponder - MIN, 2011 draft
10. Lynch - DEN, 2016 draft
11. Locker - TEN, 2011 draft
12. Manziel - CLE, 2014 draft

Went from who I thought is best to worst. Winston had the longest chance to prove he isn't a bust, but I don't think he did so.

Griffin, Bortles, and Mariota all had playoff appearances, but didn't do much with them.

Rosen is the only one I've included from 2017 onward because most of those guys haven't yet had enough time to prove bust status. Tubisky was next closest, but I say give him one more year. Either way, Rosen is clearly a bust.

Weeden should never have been a first round pick. Way to old to be taken that early. Bad job, Cleveland.

EJ Manuel was the only 1st round QB from 2013 and he shouldn't have been a 1st round pick. Not a great year to draft a QB.

Ponder, Locker, and Gabbert were all drafted in the 1st round of 2011. Just way too many QB hungry teams in 2011 really led to these guys getting way overdrafted. But at least Gabbert cut out a niche for himself to be a clipboard holder for quite a while.

Paxton Lynch was unmotivated to make himself a good QB; flamed out really quickly.

And of course Johnny Football was Johnny Football. Bad job, Cleveland.

Pretty spot on. At least Winston is entertaining as hell. Kinda don't wanna label him as a bust, but it is what it is.

I've never labeled an injury prone player as a bust. I view that as a different category.

For example, is Greg Oden a bust? So for me, RGIII is in that other category, too many injuries.

The rest looks pretty good though. Fucking CLE

just to be a little nitpicky.
Dont even remember Griffin so I cant comment on him at all.
But I think Manuel should be moved up a little since he stayed a starter more than some of those others.
Also Lynch should either be last or 2nd to last. He couldnt even stay on a team. In fact wouldnt have even made the Broncos as a rookie if they didnt use a 1st round pick on him.

RG3 had a decent rookie season but then Shanahan ran him into the ground and the kid never learned to slide.

I'm not sure I'd even have Winston on the list.
While he didn't live up to his draft position, the QB's are typically drafted higher.
His career numbers are not great but they are not Leaf bad.
I'm not sure about Rosen either. I guess he is currently a bust, but I would sign him if I were an owner. He went to 2 of the worst teams.

28-42 as a starter. When you take a QB with a first round pick, you're taking him to elevate your team. A lot of these guys go to bad teams. The good ones turn them around. Look at Andrew Luck. That Colts team had very little talent when he got there and he instantly turned them into a contender. Winston never did that for Tampa. I can't see him as much more than a bust.

Just change it to the Browns qb busts thread

Johnny Manziel, Brandon Weeden, Brady Quinn, Tim Couch, Baker Mayfield?

Yah, Greg Oden was a bust... given everyone knew that he was the most lopsided mother fucker in NCAA history and his knees were a major problem. And same with RG'Knee, a run and gun one dimensional QB with injury issues.

Both were some of the stupidest picks of all time. Even if RG'Knee stayed healthy, he would've done fuck all during his career.

I remember laughing my ASS off when the Blazers took Oden over Durant (before Seattle moved to OKC). I also remember being one of the few people (if ONLY people) that gave the RG3 pick a C (or less, can't remember, but it was NOT in the B/A range) grade... I was called racist on a # of boards for saying that (think it was ESPN boards at the time).

Now I'll certainly admit I called Lamar Jackson an impending bust as well... and so far he has greatly proven me wrong... but we'll see how long that run game holds up. Need more than a few years to go down as a non-bust at the QB position... I still think he's overdue. Just takes to many hits and risks on the run.

He was dynamic. Mike Shanahan ruined his career by putting him out to play on a pile of dirt when his knee was already bad. RGIII wasn't a polished passer, but he could have been a good dual threat had his coach not put one game over his career.

Vikes he was a run and gun QB. If the first option wasn't there, he did not care. The biggest saving grace he had was not being able to fully suit up for a 2nd year... where every defender in the NFL would've easily been able to play his 'game'. One of the most overrated QBs of all time that was 'taken out by an injury'.
