That was hilarious.

If he does, a large part of the burden will be lifted.I agree what you said the other day about Lewis. I am starting to feel better about him. I think he is starting to find it.
Agree on Scherzer.
Wouldn't mind a Shields/Masterson combo. Depending on what Masterson is going to be looking for contract wise - that is.
No on Scherzer, but would take Masterson? He's too inconsistent for me. Shields definitely. I would also look into Gallardo (13MM club option). Lester too , but he won't be cheap.
2 different types of pitchers... 2 different paydays.

For me, it's a combination of factors, the uptick in Ks, and the lack of walks while maintaining velocity, to me means he's hitting his spots, he's a flyball pitcher so hRs will always be a problem especially without elite velocity
But I'm starting to believe he's close to where he was before he got hurt
The break on his off speed has been much better too. I hope it continues. We might need him in the rotation next year. Plus he'd be cheap.
Wow, I know he's had a disappointing year but that move is surprising.MLB Trade Rumors @mlbtraderumors 8m

Wow, Darryl, you're just loaded with interesting news today! Thanks for sharing...Mark Feinsand @FeinsandNYDN 45s
Tanaka on DL with elbow inflammation.
If this ends up with TJ surgery, then damn, what a year.

It does look overwhelming. If I was JD, I would concentrate heavily on pitching first and foremost. We aren't signing a Scherzer or Shields, our budget won't support it (plus after this disaster, would these guys even want to come here??). We need to concentrate on the Fister, Skaggs, Miley level pitchers - affordable (comparatively) and hungry. But we need to spend our money on pitching, pitching, pitching.
As for the offense, as JD, I would have to hope and pray that Fielder comes back 100%, Choo returns to being an OBP machine, Profar is at least 80% of his potential, and Beltre has a few good years left. Odor is a keeper, Chirinos and Giminez can hold down the fort until Alfaro is ready. Martin....tough one, but I see him as a Gentry, Murphy type player. He can be brilliant defensively, but offensively he's just not consistent enough to be everyday. Speaking of Gentry, Choice may eventually work out, but that trade in the short term was a disaster for us. Elvis....I'm done with him. He's not impressed me in the least these last two seasons. Ready to trade him (although his value has diminished), he's one that needs a fresh start elsewhere, he's worn out here and it shows..
Rios is OK, but I bet he's traded this summer.
Pitching, pitching, pitching...and hope the offense can generate some level of consistency until some of the youngsters are ready.
My 2 cents, for what it's worth....
Season on the brink: The Yankees might not have been a playoff team this year even if they were healthy. However, if Tanaka is out for any extended period of time, it will mean they will have lost four-fifths of their original rotation.
CC Sabathia, their former ace, is scheduled to visit Dr. James Andrews on Monday to see if he will need microfracture surgery on his knee, which may be career-ending. Michael Pineda has been sidelined since the pine tar game with a sore upper back/shoulder. Ivan Nova is done for the season after Tommy John surgery.
Without Tanaka, the Yankees rotation would likely be: Hiroki Kuroda, David Phelps, Brandon McCarthy, Shane Greene and Chase Whitley. Even with Tanaka, the Yankees may struggle to make the playoffs. Without him, forget about it.
Perspective: Players have MRIs all the time. With injuries, the Yankees are ultra-conservative. So this might just be a precaution. Still, it is precarious.
I guess the Yankees can empathize a bit with our issues in the rotation
For me it's appears he's finally found a consistent release point that works, which with the surgery on the hip makes total sense,
He's throwing harder than before he got hurt more consistently and now he's not walking guys anymore
Thanks Yu. About time we got shorty Joe out.
