So, good little win against a pitcher, team, and park the Rangers have struggled with the past few years.

It's in the threader. Was wondering if we were going to have to hunt you down to set this one up.

I'm as "Fair Weather Threader" as you can get sir. Watch us get spanked the next 3 games and my ass is gonna disappear on ya faster than Lickitdy Split.

Like that reference DT; and more?

Damn if this isn't the truth. The Twins - good or bad season - have owned us if memory serves for many years.

I don't want to make too much of this, but I wonder if Odor coming in and playing like he belongs hasn't given everyone a shot in the arm. He's got that, "you worry about age, I'll take care of kicking your ass" kind of attitude. Love it

Fielder who?????:noidea:

Hope I'm still saying this a week from now....

This may be the knee jerk reaction from
Fielder being put on the shelf. The team
may just feel the season was done on that news so they
got relaxed and are now playing well.

Hope it lasts. The season run differential has
shrunk to -11 in the past few days.

Told ya. We softened them up nicely for Oakland.

Again, their pitching staff threw 949 pitches in their last 5 games, going into today.

That's BP hell.

Signed as a FA. Previously pitched pretty well for Toronto.

Yeah, I remember this. But it really does reflect well on the scouting to come up with the recommendation on what he can cut or not, right?

I'm sure happy he's here, I'll tell ya this.

NEW YORK -- The Mets made a pair of dismissals Monday, firing hitting coach Dave Hudgens and releasing reliever Jose Valverde, after a 5-3 defeat against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Memorial Day.

Hudgens, a longtime colleague of general manager Sandy Alderson, was in his fourth season as hitting coach. He will be replaced by Lamar Johnson, who had been the organization's minor league hitting coordinator for the past decade.

It does happen I suppose.

yeah it has, our guys have been chewed up and spit out by injuries,
that bunch is just sucking. Just goes to show ya. I couldn't care less ultimately, but I was hoping for a couple wins against Oakland.

They really look more comfortable, there might be something to what you posted... and losing Fielder might have been the final push for..."okay let's have some fun out there"

Just goes to show ya it can happen to anybody. They're built better than we are and they're struggling big time.

I'm going to put a positive spin on Fielder, yes you read that correctly.
He had this injury, that's the reality...eventually it was coming to roost, you fix it and expect him to come back.

With everything else going on as far as injuries, was this the worst year for him to go down for a season? No, I don't think it was. Could he have saved the season, no. Might have been more fun...but I have to go back to the pitching situation.
For example, the pitching starts to look stronger (again) for next year and maybe we get to see a glimpse of some hopefuls this year. We don't have the position players down next season, and Fielder is up and ready to go. Profar is up and ready to go. We're getting a look at some guys that we normally wouldn't have, who knows...sometimes a guy gets a chance...

Point is, it was inevitable Fielder had the injury and it wasn't going to get better.
If it had to happen, maybe this was an okay time.

Yup.
Part of the craziness of this game. Sometimes I get asked, usually by big NFL guys, how do pay attention to a season that long? I assume other baseball fans get that too.
(my first thought is how can you not? I would never say that, it's not for everybody)

The reason, it doesn't seem too long, is because of how much can happen to change the course of teams, day to day, week to week....blah blah
That's what makes it compelling

Everyday is a new day If other sports seasons were as long, true fans would watch them as we do.
