Did they come to Texas because of CY or the money. Because it’s almost always about the money. Yates and Robertson were one year deals. Both are probably gone after the season, with the seasons that they have had. Will probably get more money somewhere else. And if CY wanted to keep them, why not give them an extension. CY has never been high on spending on the bullpen. I didn’t even mention the signing of Kninzer, he was worst then terrible. Keeping him and Heim on the roster, when they both having bad years was on him. Not wanting to give Huff a chance to see what he can do is a mystery.
I think CY May still be learning and being a GM trader takes shrewdness. Believe DRob has an option for next year

Unless there is a really, really good reason why he has fallen off a cliff and we don't know about it, he should not be the starting catcher next year. If not Huff, then we need to trade for someone or sign a catcher.
Did he not do the surgery last year?

Good take. Yeah 8 is high but perhaps he could come back and not pitch as much in the 8th trying to hold games.
He probably will be affordable plus I don't see Yates coming back since he has pitched his way into nice hefty raise.
By the way are you from Washington DC?
I was born in DC and grew up watching the Senators at RFK before they moved to Arlington.
Just curious I live in Pittsburgh now
Having DRob pitch the 7th next year makes a lot of sense. Good take

Been out of the country a week and catching up after unplugging

Sounds like Leiter is making progress as is Wyatt and Lowe.
Should prove an interesting offseason

Too hush hush re Lowe. Have to think there is more to it than being tired. Regardless his load surely will decrease

Why is Garcia playing at this point. He has sucked this season. He’s hitting.216 this season. He’s 1 for 11 with 5 strikeouts in this series so far. He should be riding the bench the rest of the season.
read that the Rangers are considering Garcia as the DH next season with the occasional start in RF. guess that means bringing someone during FA like Tyler O'Neill

With each outing, I am feeling better about Leiter being in the rotation next year.
Same here. This was his best outing yet. His fastball can be really nasty.
He's only improving as he gets more exposure to big league hitting, and his confidence is growing, too.
Leiter, Rocker and Bradford sure make an exciting pitching core to build around!

From Thomas Nestico:

Blaine Crim had been great in AAA this season, posting a 111 wRC+ through 554 PA

He has displayed strong power metrics in tandem with ideal launch angles and solid plate discipline metrics

Well deserved title as team MVP this season

From Scott Lucas:

Abi Ortiz had a five-hit night with two homers. In his last two months, Ortiz is hitting .293/.385/.581 with 13 homers in 43 games. This is the Ortiz of 2023 and gives the front office something to think about on 40-man deadline day.

From Scott Lucas:

I've been grumpily frustrated about Marc Church for over a year. Back in March, he drew some attention and had a chance at the Opening Day active roster, but most of his AAA outings just haven't quite looked the part. Last night, he was in fine form, striking out three in two scoreless innings and generating seven misses on nine swings at the slider. Just promoted San Francisco prospect Bryce Eldridge waved through two of them. The slider has nearly always been an absolute beast, but the fastball has been erratic, both in terms of basic control and what happens on contact. Church's strikeout rate in AAA since returning from injury is 22%, ordinary for a reliever nowadays, but his control has improved dramatically, and he's largely avoided noisy contact. On the season, Church has a 41% whiff rate with the slider (league rate 28%) and 15% on the fastball (league rate 25%). Nothing he throws moves much horizontally. He relies on impressive vertical break for the fastball, and the slider acts like a fastball until the batter commits. Most of his 2024 has been spent on the shelf, but he still has a shot at being a worthy MLB reliever.

I hope not. Don’t need a DH that’s going to .220 and almost 200 strikeouts.

i agree, but it was the article that the Rangers didn't feel that there was any FA DH's that were worth going after and they weren't ready to commit to a prospect DH.

Seems like a good opportunity to see what Crim might do.

there is also one other factor in regard to Garcia and that's he's owed $9.25M for 2025 and i doubt any other team would take that axe on and that the Rangers would eat that much to cut him. they have to hope he turns it around so that they can trade him at the trade deadline
