Good take. Yeah 8 is high but perhaps he could come back and not pitch as much in the 8th trying to hold games.Well Robertson is human. I was a little surprised by the 8 blown saves but look what he did to the top of Dodgers lineup 2 nights in a row on the road. Not many could do that. Plus he’s a good guy to have in the playoffs with his experience. There’s a mutual option out there if he wants to stay with the club next year and CY agrees to it. Robertson doesn’t have an agent and likes CY. I don’t know what will happen though.
I was born in LA and wanted to follow a team other than the locals. I followed the White Sox in ‘67 then the Senators in ‘68 and stuck with them ever since. It’s a strange story.Good take. Yeah 8 is high but perhaps he could come back and not pitch as much in the 8th trying to hold games.
He probably will be affordable plus I don't see Yates coming back since he has pitched his way into nice hefty raise.
By the way are you from Washington DC?
I was born in DC and grew up watching the Senators at RFK before they moved to Arlington.
Just curious I live in Pittsburgh now
I like what he has done so far.Unless he falls apart, they should let Leiter go all the way through the 9th.
Bochy stretches him too far in his first game back, yet in this one he shuts him down an inning too early.Unless he falls apart, they should let Leiter go all the way through the 9th.
I didn't think Yates was going to pitch this well. In 18 and 19 he had stellar years with the Padres but didn't see this coming. I am with you on the CY comment.I was born in LA and wanted to follow a team other than the locals. I followed the White Sox in ‘67 then the Senators in ‘68 and stuck with them ever since. It’s a strange story.
I heard a Boston announcer say that CY said, “if i knew Yates was going to pitch like this we would have paid him more”.
That’s seems like an odd thing to say if you wanted to resign the guy.
They really need LH relief help. He has gone downhill in a hurryI have not been impressed with Chaffin. Hope he’s not back.
I think JD had restraints on the current team but many players has his handprintI'm happy to see this. Overall he has done a pretty good job as GM. Between being able to land big fish (Seager, Semien, Eovaldi, Yates, Robertson), and overseeing the drafting of Leiter and Rocker, he has been much better than JD in many respects.
He does have areas he needs to improve (prioritizing the bullpen mainly), but we don't win a WS without him.
JD never valued starting pitching like CY has shown to (even if he has maybe gone overboard on SPs, lol).
That said, even the signings of Yates and Robertson last year showed growth as far as recognizing the importance of the pen.
Rangers were 100% due for some good luckSometimes it pays to be lucky like when the Mets didn't keep Rocker and when the Tigers drafted Max Clark instead of Langford.
