The Twins have cut their 6th round draft pick from this year, Derek Bender. He is a catcher and was tipping pitches to the opponents because he was ready for the season to end and didn't want to go to the postseason. The game had playoff implications. The opppsing team scored 4 runs in the inning in which he was tipping pitches and eventually won 6-0.

I think that is a new one for me.
That might end his career. What pitcher would trust him after that.

I wonder if it is time to move Seager somewhere besides SS so he can stay healthy.
I've always felt his injury is a result of running the bases.

Bochy had said about 75 pitches, so that probably will end his night.

Great debut by Rocker. Despite a bs call by the ump.

Frim Evan Grant:

Rocker gets through 4. Seven Ks. Only 3 Rangers starters have had more in their MLB debut

Don Stanhouse (9), Paul Mirabella (8), David Clyde (8).

Both Glenn Otto and Justin Grimm had 7.

I have not been impressed with Chaffin. Hope he’s not back.
That's what I was thinking. I'm fact, if they need a roster slot they can just cut him.

Rocker looked every bit like the Ace he can potentially become.
Outside of the solo HR that only happened because the umpire stole a strikeout from him, he was close to flawless.
His fastball is nice, but his slider might just end up being the best in baseball soon. That thing is downright filthy.
There is no doubt he is in the starting rotation next year, barring injury. He might just give deGrom a run for his money as the best SP on the team.
I imagine we'll see him maybe twice more at the most, then bubble wrap until spring training. Not a bad plan.
I really hope they still give Leiter a few more starts, as well. I really believe he will be a fantastic player next year, as well.
On the flip side, this offense really sucks and will need an infusion of talent. I wish some of the young hitters were being given the same chances that our young pitchers are.

From Jeff Wilson:

#Rangers prospect Sebastian Walcott goes 3 for 5 with two doubles and two RBIs for @RidersBaseball. The 18-year-old is 4 for 12 with three doubles after his first three Double A games.

I heard that they are thinking about moving him to 1B. They think that Lowe is going to get 10 million or above in arbitration and they don’t want to do that.
This would make the most sense. Perhaps he could dh a few games as well.

Rocker definitely didn’t disappoint. He has a TORP demeanor on the mound with the stuff to match it.

the umpire did him no favors. The game was called so poorly in favor of the mariners.

The Rangers finished 60-102 in 2021. That allowed them to draft Kumar Rocker. Never underestimate the value of the silver lining of a great draft pick in the storm cloud of a terrible season.

At times you simply have to play for the future and not strive for mediocrity. There is nothing wrong with a rebuild when your team needs it. That is something the team across the street from the Rangers will never get, even though they have experienced it before.
