The Rangers try to keep the momentum going against the Marlins. It looks like our starting pitchers for the series will be Urena, Lorenzen and Eovaldi.

Frim Jeff Wilson:

Rookie outfielder Evan Carter was diagnosed with a lumbar sprain, which sounds unpleasant. It’s synonymous, though, with a lower back strain, which is unpleasant.

The Rangers gave no timeline for Carter to return. It also seems plausible that he has visited with a back specialist who might have diagnosed something a little more severe. Don’t be surprised, based on the Rangers’ luck this season and Carter’s back history, if that’s the case.

Carter missed most of the 2021 season with what was eventually diagnosed as a stress fracture in his lower back. He didn’t resume baseball activities until December.

The wise move is for the Rangers to get Carter’s back as strong as they can before letting him return. He’s only 21. He has a long way to go in his career, and it will feel even longer if he has back problems popping up every couple of seasons (if not sooner).

Baseball America is currently going over each team's international signings from this year. Here is part of their Rangers report.

The big international signing for the Rangers this year was 17-year-old Dominican outfielder Paulino Santana. He got $1,297,500, which is a top 40 bonus in the class, though several scouts thought his talent was commensurate with players who received bigger money. Already fluent in English, Santana is a lean, athletic 6-foot-2, 180 pounds with fast hands that he uses well at the plate in a short, low-effort stroke from the right side.

He controls the zone well for his age, recognizing spin with the patient approach to draw walks, stringing together consistent quality at-bats with high-level game performance. Santana makes frequent contact and is able to generate power to the right-center field gap or go deep to the pull side. He can sometimes get too contact-oriented, with more game power that could emerge once he learns which situations to try to do damage. His athleticism and plus speed give him a good chance to stick in center field.

I think the bats come to life tonight and Langford gets his first career HR that actually leaves the park.
Urena goes 5 innings allowing 2 runs, getting 4 strikeouts. Not sexy but very solid performance.
Rangers win 6-3.

Tinoco is just not that good. It is a shame we have to have him up here.

I want Jung back as soon as possible. But I don’t see how one guy is going to jump start this offense.

I was doing the wait and see thing with him and was hoping he would help but doesn't look like it. We have so many relievers we bring up who just can't get the job done.

i'm starting a list of who we should trade between now and the trade deadline
That and no more albatross that cost us a fortune but can't play. Once we free that up maybe we can make some decent moves to bolster our BP.
