This game is 100% squarely on Bochy. Pitching Speas in the 9th was indefensible.

On the road, hostile environment. Bottom of the 9th in a tie game, after a bad outing your last time out, in your first week in the big leagues. Terrible fucking spot to put the guy in....

Biggest question is why has the MF bullpen not been a priority for this team. It was shitty last year and its even shittier this year. It has been problem all season and the only thing that has been done was adding Chapman. It has never been a priority and it has been cost the team wins for years.

Chris Young are you gonna make a move/moves or you gonna sit around on your ass and watch them continue to lose games with shitty pitching?

The only reason tomorrow is a bullpen game is because the Rangers keep their AAA starting depth in the big leagues as relievers. That is all because they failed to fix the bullpen in the offseason.

Uh you do realize the bullpen we currently embarrass ourselves with every night IS a Chris Young bullpen. He and Bochy own every bit of this dogshit pitching staff. Just focus on 24. This team has zero chance to win any kind of playoff series this season.

Yes plus he should have taken Gray out after 4. He was awful and Bochy let him pitch to the top of the order n the 5th.
Yeah Bregman and Tucker had his number
Gray seemed to panic against them and Abreu just was taking pitches

Well everyone Ted Speas and now you got him
I think he is tough minded so hope he learns but he was surely thrown to the fire

Wanting a rookie relief pitcher to come up usually results in him being eased into high leverage situations when he does come up.

Bochy has made some questionable decisions regarding the bullpen on several occasions, not only with Speas. Of course, it has yet to be seen if he can make better decisions with a much better bullpen here.

I think CY will make a move…or two.

Imagine if we had Smith, Chapman, Burke, Moore, and Chafin.

Yes, Chafin got lit up tonight, but so did Chapman.

Having those 5 guys would be awesome.

I think we all wish CY had already acquired us another reliever or two at the very least, but talent and winning-losing games now aside, he’s also walking a fine line with regards to what kind of market he will end up with by the trade deadline.

Definite buyers and definite sellers have already been identified. But there is a large group of teams who are on the fence about whether to go for the playoffs or waive the white flag on the season. And how those teams perform over the next week will largely determine whether it’s ultimately a seller’s or buyer’s market. If too many of those teams go on winning streaks, we’ll wind up with too many buyers and limited sellers. And then those sellers can ask whatever they want for their players and we’ll get screwed.

Teams to watch and root against over this last 7 days are the Guardians, Padres, Mariners, Mets, Cubs, Angels, and Tigers. An extended winning streak by any of those would likely eliminate a seller for the Rangers to negotiate with.

As it stands, CY is likely limited to dealing with KC, Oakland (pass), Colorado, Washington, and maybe STL and Pittsburgh.

The Mariners, Cubs, SD, and the Mets are just about out. They have too many teams to pass, with maybe the exception of the Cubs. Even the Cubs would probably have to concede very soon.

The sellers also have to be concerned with more sellers entering the market in 2 to 4 days.
