It also says on traderumors that the question was the rangers about garza though... which logical sense would sorta indicate otherwise. I mean the rangers were the ones asking the cubs about garza, so why would they not know every risk about him medically? Doesn't really add up. I like the traderumors site, I just don't think it, or the sources it quotes, are accurate all the time.

Don't you think that was just a ploy by JD to keep Odor. He could be a future player here or trade piece for something else. Based that Ramirez was not on the deal he must have been the issue.

So essentially, its like the same trade that every one was reporting a few days ago, except with grimm added to it.

I dont really get Oakland's desire for Garza.... Oakland is deep in pitching.

UNLESS... they are worried about Colon. Hmmm....

Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times reports (via Twitter) that the Cubs can select right-hander Neil Ramirez as the PTBNL in the deal. However, if the Cubs select Ramirez, they will not receive a second PTBNL. Otherwise, they can select two other pitchers from the agreed upon list of names

If Ramirez is the PTBNL, the Rangers gave up their best INF prospect and best pitching prospect, plus 2 other players, for Matt freaking Garza. How in the world is that a good deal? And whether Garza resigns or not is immaterial. The trade as is has nothing to do with next season.

Can we give them Kirkman and McClellan? :)

We're giving all that up for a MORP that may play all of 12 baseball games for the Rangers! WHAT?

What you are saying sounds just like thse who were ticked off for giving Seattle Smoak, Blevin and 2 others for Lee and a lousy Lowe. Olt was blocked and I am okay with him being gone.

I just heard the player wasn't Olt I guess. Maybe I misunderstood the message. By him saying it "wasn't olt" I assumed it was one of our other players. Didn't think it was Garza. But either way, we gave up a shitload for him. Olt AND Ramirez AND CJ AND Grimm?

they aren't our best. If a future NUMBER 4-5 starter is our best we are in trouble

Its not olt im mad about because I feel the same way. Plus hes already 25 so we could afford to lose him. But I really wanted to keep Ramirez.

How on earth is whether or not Garza resigns with us immaterial? Sure nobody knows as of now, which is part of the story...the trade may affect next season in several ways.

Lets wait until the ptbnl actually gets named.

To me it is CJ and Ramirez. Like we all know there is no place for Olt and Grimm stinks. And the jury is out on Ramirez and CJ. And I think that Garza is a resignable player. Have to see how that goes.

Grimm will be a 4 of 5 at best but likely a long reliever bullpen guy. Edwards is a baby right now and is very very far away from arriving. Olt is 25 and was blocked. His value has declined astronomically in the last year.

FWIW, I did hear that the rangers pressed so hard on Garza because he is friendly with our front office and feels comfortable with us... possibly indicating his resignability is very high
