I for one am not going to give up on them. They HAVE the talent to turn things around and play VERY good baseball. Look at the Rays. They are not a powerhouse offensive line up. They are just getting the job done.

Of course they should be hitting better and they'll all tell you and admit it. The issue itself isn't BA, HR's etc...the issues here are RISP. We up that then all of a sudden we're winning a hell of a lot more games.

When Cruz is suspended their production will only get worse. The Rangers need a bat, but there doesn't seem to be any worth acquiring at this point.

I'm still not convinced he'll serve any suspension this season. If Cruz does in fact get suspended, they might as well hang it up.

Could very well be that he is telling the truth and they choose to stand pat.

Or, it could be a very smart (and somewhat commonly used) negotiating ploy. I've read on multiple sites where they've quoted various baseball execs saying that the Rangers have been desperately kicking the tires and ringing the phones off the hook of just about every player and team in the game trying to acquire some offense. This makes them look very desperate to acquire a bat and all of the GM's know this. Therefore they know they can force JD to give up more in return. But if JD publicly backs off and says they're willing to stand pat, maybe a few other GM's might drop their asking prices as the deadline nears.
