More bark than bite with Yu. I'd take a lot of pitchers before him. I do feel bad for the Rangers tho, seems like they can't catch a break recently.

Cueto - Cueto's 2012 and 2014 seasons were better than any season Yu ever had in the majors

Shields - Yu has better rate stats, but not better enough to overcome the 100 more innings Shields has thrown the past 2 years or 140+ over the past 3 years. All those extra innings add signifcant value.

Hamels - Hamels and Yu have nearly identical ERA+ numbers the past few years, but the notable exception is that Hamels has thrown 30 more innings per season on average. Like Shields, all those extra innings add value, especially when they were quality innings.

Sale - has a 148 ERA+, 1.06 WHIP, and 4.60 K/BB the past 3 years....Yu hasn't hit any of those marks in any single season, let alone a 3 year stretch.

Zimmerman - same reasoning why I'd take Hamels over Yu

Taking a second look, I'd say Yu's 2013 was on par with Cueto's 2012....regardless, I'd still take Cueto because he had a season in 2014 that topped both of those.
