I cast my lone vote as a YES for all of the above.
So do I. Beating to death Cruz Napoli Kinsler etc is a waste of time and energy. What happened is history and won't do this team any good now. There is lots to be done beginning with getting our rotation in order for 2015. Certainly JD has work to do in more than one area and it's time to start and quit worrying about the what "if's" of the past. Learn from them and move on.

Fukikawa to the 60 day. Last I read on him, he's still having real problems and MM will be ready to contribute in another 14 days, give-or-take.

Thought I had missed something but Fujikawa is still on the 15day DL. Projected due back "early May" according to the TEX official website. Read same thing you did about him having problems. Same source has Mitch returning late May. Fantasy Baseball Player Injury Updates | MLB.com: Fantasy

I thought I read less than a week ago that Fuji has really struggled with health/regaining his form. And it stated they didn't see any immediate plan for him to rejoin the big club. I took this to mean, with good fortunate and hope, he'd be back in late May, early June.

And on MM the prediction (not sure if from the same article) he would be back no later than mid-May.

Maybe I misinterpreted the message. But swear, that's what I walked away with.

PS....just heard this. Hoying has no walks and 25 Ks, with a .271 avg for the season.

Geez. Some of you guys act like these players were just waiting to be signed to hometown discounts. That's just not true.

I'm not sure where you get "hometown discount" or any kind of signing on the cheap notion from within my post. I never said it would have been cheap to keep those players. But it was certainly doable. We paid Choo a LOT more than what Nelly took elsewhere. We could have paid Nelly his full asking price and still paid less than we paid Choo. There's some money freed up right there. We are paying Fielder more than we were paying Kinsler. That's even more savings. Those 2 big chunks of change would have been enough to sign both Napoli and Uehara.

Now, in the cases of Cruz, Napoli, and Uehara, part of the difficulty in bringing them back was reportedly promised roles and/or playing time. We weren't willing to guarantee those guys the roles they wanted and we wanted them back in somewhat diminished roles. Each of them has gone on to prove that they were not only capable of filling the role they wanted in Texas but also that they're each better than the replacement JD had for them.

Hindsight is 20/20, so I'm not saying JD should have necessarily known better. I was just pointing out the areas where we've really regressed.

I just think too many people remember to 2011 second half Napoli and ignore the 2012 Napoli. Also, something people never bring up, Napoli has degenerative avascular necrosis in his hip. That probably had something to do with our decision.

True about the hip, and he definitely hasn't been anywhere near the player he was in 2011. I guess I just included him in the guys I wish were still on the team because even in his present condition I would take him over the garbage we have now. Sadly, .240 with 20 HR would be an upgrade over most of our lineup.

I knew we're only about 1/7 of the way through the season. But at our current pace, our HR leader would have 14 projecting out.

Certainly think AB/Choo/Prince will all surpass this. But it's a point of comparison to the 20 you spoke of.

If memory serves, his hip, plus his desire to actually participate on the defensive side, was the major reason he went to Boston.

We only had 1st available, since his hip would almost exclude him from the catching position. And we had decided to go younger/cheaper with Moreland there. So it was DH about 80% of the time with us, and he decided to move on.

Initial contract from Boston was a damn good one too.

It's really quite amazing how emotions have written the story of the post-2011 Texas Rangers with a lot of fans. There are a LOT of fans who think the Rangers made no effort to bring back Napoli (they did), never mention his hip injury, etc.

I think the problem in not going after Napoli occurred when his first contract with Boston was voided. At that point we should have jumped in with both feet. I wish we would have went after him the next time we was a free agent as well. Then again if we had went after him after the 2013 season we would have had to sign him and about 3 other free agents to have a chance offensively. He was not going to be enough by himself. Rebuilding was probably the better option at that point. We didn't do that either.
