total group effort.
The offseason evaluations really stick out to me and makes me wonder what the heck was management thinking?
They were thinking injuries like last year won't happen again. Wrong!! A little late now for 2015 so do the best you can and move on to 2016-2017

I knew Mendez problem is not his stuff but his ability to control it much like Scheppers. So that did not surprise me. But with I believe to be sitting there with at the time a lead that was now 5-1 I was thinking you cannot walk this guy. You have to make him earn it. I understand what you are saying but sitting there at the game that just gave me a bad feeling. It was like here we go again. And we need to quit bringing Feliz in the 8th inning. It has not turned out well yet. These guys cave under pressure. We have blown now two 5 run leads late in a game.

And I agree with you that I never thought about blaming Banister for this. My only thought was letting Claudio pitch another inning since he had only thrown 9 pitches. We needed one more lefty in this situation. These guys just have to come thru. This BP just stinks for the most part.

You were right. And it's a whole lot different when you're sitting there at the contest, rather than viewing on the tube. You had the advantage of actually feeling the vibe, seeing guys body language, etc.

I'm well beyond concerned with Feliz. But I think you've hit on something which needs to be addressed immediately. If Banister is determined to keep him in the closing role for now, then he shouldn't be brought in and exposed to having to throw 40 pitches or more over 2 innings. Those days are over.

Good pick up on Claudio. And why didn't we let him pitch the next inning? Ya know, it's like a constant contradiction. We bring our closer in for 2 innings, but won't leave a middle man in for more than one. Don't get it.

Well, I can tell you one thing management wasn't thinking. They weren't thinking both Darvish and Holland would go down again this season.

That's hard to plan for or around.

It's also difficult to plan/predict that Choo would look like a struggling single A guy. Although - know some of ya aren't gonna think I'm nuts - I'm still not giving up on Shin-Soo. He's been too good for too long, to stay this lost for months on end. At least, I for one sure hope so.

I'm with us on Choo. Guy needs a break though.

Agree. I have always felt if the guy is on his game and his pitch count is reasonable then go with him. Plus you have to take into account the number of LH hitters Oakland has.

Agree there as well. His track record says otherwise compared to what he is doing right now. I do think he will come around. And he seems to look healthy right now.

I know many will disagree with me and I am not a JD hater but I think he dropped the ball on the BP unless he is using this season as strictly a time to get young relievers some MLB time. But I would not think that goes over well with guys like Beltre.

I will also say as I sat there last night I thought what a stud Colby is. I was not sure what we would get out of him this year but he is doing great. Just wish his pitch count was a little lower so he could get 7 to keep the BP out of it as much as possible.

injuries to your top two starters is a given, but the starting pitching has been the best part of this young season. The Rangers knew what they had with regards to bull pen, utility IF'ers, catchers and the assembled outfielders on the roster. The outfield and bull pen are both huge swing & misses thus far. The most exciting thing this season has been Josh Hamilton's press conference. How far this organization has fallen the last two years is shocking.

I agree and I'd hate to think JD has that kinda job security, but that's just me

Choo should be better than what he has shown so far, but he is getting close to the age when some guys start to show some decline. I never expected anything much from him past 2016 anyway so I wouldn't be terribly surprised if his decline has started. He may go through these slumps more and more often from here on out.

It has been more than a 2 year fall. They have been falling since Game 6.

I think they are getting young relievers ready for the future. They could have Feliz and Adams in their primes and this team still wouldn't be much better.

1. Top 3 pitchers out
2.There was little or no choice of catchers as I recall
3. Martin Choo and Rua were decent then injury struck
4. Bull pen though not the best has been ok for the most part
5.Lack of offense has been the main culprit not supporting pitching
6. UIF is killing us. Don't know if Alberto is ready but better than Rosales.

hard to argue the point based on returns. How this team ever broke camp with the thought that Feliz had the stuff and make-up to be the closer is beyond me

Check out Frisco and Round Rock. That is where all the excitement in the organization is right now. If you're lucky enough to live close to either place then I would highly suggest taking the trip. You will not be sorry.

He's making $14M this year in his 32yo season. Jumps to $20M for each next three years then $21M for the last two years of his contract.
