I literally laughed out loud when I read Scott Lucas' report just now that led off with the news that Luke Jackson is being brought up. I guess the front office liked his numbers as a reliever as well.

He's posted on social media how much it pisses him off to not be "out there helping his teammates."

personally, I think he rushed to get back at the start of the year and it backfired.

Possible, but that's really hard to say for sure.

They weren't using Claudio against LHHs anyway, might as well I guess

71 K's in 60IP, w 3 HR's and 30 walks. May fair well out of the pen in situations, though a whip of 1.38 seems a bit high.

I wonder if it ever dawns on some of these guys that you (insert Beltre or Holland in this particular case) aren't helping your team at ALL by coming back when you aren't physically prepared to do so?

I understand and respect the desire - it's part of who and what they are and makes em good - so don't get me wrong.

But fellas, this is one of the reasons why we have a medical staff and mgmt isn't it?

Well, Jackson can't do worse than Klein.

Could be true, but I bet the change from reliever to starter to reliever hasn't helped Klein either. Hope they don't yo-yo LJack back and forth

That's hitting the nail-on-the-head there.

Good observation.

saddles posted earlier that his ERA has been 3.11 and his WHIP is 1.17 as a reliever

Kinsler with the WO HR and now he's hitting .296 with a .356 OBP.

Took our semi-focus off Feliz.

Good observation.

I don't question Banister's bullpen usage much, but my main gripe is continuously using Freeman as a LOOGY when the numbers, this year and last, indicate he does not pitch well against LHHs

Last night is an example of where Claudio should've been used at least for the initial LHH

If Claudio fails, then you can put that on Claudio b/c he was put into a situation to succeed at something he's good at and specializes in, at that point it's not on Banister

Instead we get Freeman, who's not good against LHHs, walking the leadoff batter, that's on Banister

It's all moot now, since we won anyway, but still open to discussion

I get it, and understood you're observation/point from the get-go.

He's been hot since July started after a fairly mediocre first 3 months

He's raised his OBP 20 points, his average 34 points, and his slugging % 73 points, since Jult started

Better than the 4.05 and 1.38 combined numbers

I read that Claudio has been the long man and that is why we haven't seen him used yet.

Which makes zero sense bc he's pretty much a specialist and shouldn't be facing RHHs

Klein made more sense as a long man, which I thought was the purpose last night until he imploded, since he has starter's experience
