To continue to pile up SP just like in the offseason and to continue to not to address the glaring weakness of quality proven relievers in the bullpen is a flawed thought process. Just as flawed as thinking that to make a run to try and get into the playoffs (or as CY likes to say “playing meaningful games down the stretch”) but not adding to an offense that’s been bad with RISP and overall dropped off considerably the last 2 months, are about one in the same…..

possible he felt the prices were too costly

I’ll wait until I see what they do in the offseason before I make this comment

Until Eovaldi is back we will see Scherzer, Montgomery, Dunning, Gray, Heaney & Perez is some form of rotation

Probably go with a 6 man rotation for awhile giving guys more rest down the stretch. Could even use Bradford for spot starts to keep him stretched out while giving guys extra rest

Wish granted

After we lost out in rule 5 to keep his sorry behind. Hope it is more than $2 which is what he’s worth. Failed trade on one of the highest levels

That’s what they will say and none of us will ever know the validity of it or not

there was no way to fix everything that needed to be fixed without making a serious dent in the farm. I can understand wanting to do that, but i'm glad they didn't do that, and they didn't sit on their hands either.

Like that. But the news that Howard is gone makes this a win

Foscue surviving this deadline is surprising. I wonder if the team intends on letting him compete for the DH in next year's lineup.

Zavala and Harris would have to play a lot better from here on out to be even considered for an OF spot, I would think.

Something tells me Cody Bradford will not suffer the demotion depression some guys struggle with. I think, much like Josh Smith did last year, he hits the ground running.

Foscue would be a good add to the 26 man roster

So make the Max move because he agreed to his player option for next year but if the thought process is what you stated and I don’t disagree that there are too many needs possibly then you really don’t need to make the move for Montgomery who’s a rental. Use the trade deadline and FA after the season to build for 2024 and beyond. Just seems like teetering on the fence. Use TK and Thomas as pieces to get you something for beyond this year.
