This has been such a crazy schedule. We are done with the Royals for the year while we still haven't played several teams even once.

When was the last time we have had a trade chip as valuable as Minor at deadline time when we weren't buyers? Was it the year we traded Honeycutt, 1983? It would have been Pudge, but he removed himself from the trading block. Surely, I am missing someone.

It has been good the last month or so for the most part.
Certain

Earlier I was thinking to myself that I wish we were playing the Yankees now while many of their offensive weapons are out but they actually started playing good ball anyway so I guess it doesn't matter.

A really good outing, albeit short, for Palumbo. A poor outing for Phillips.

Good time for an offday?

I guess you can make the point that both gallo and Calhoun will be closer to coming back.

Frustrating.....

If we just lost 2 more games last year, we would be picking 6th and would get one of the good bats in the draft.

Rangers aren’t assured of getting one at 8 tho.

2019 MLB Mock Draft from Baseball America has Rangers going prep bat

Baty is their pick.

There is a theory that the Rangers will take a lesser player at #8, like Baty, so they can spend more on their next pick. That seems convoluted to me.

I don't know that its lesser players per say, since the draft is such a crap shoot anyway, but Its been a pretty successful strategy for some teams

That's what the Astros did with Correa, save money at the top of the draft where the talent is pretty even and disperse it later in the draft to flip guys from their college commitments in the later rounds

**Just saw this and I haven't been on my laptop so the Dillon Tate conversation was still on the screen**

I’ll say it now.

I hope we get the Manoah kid from West Virginia. Very likely to pan out and be a useful major league pitcher in some capacity.

We can’t keep getting skunked in the draft. We’ve gotta bit on something. Dillon Tate still hurts.

Sometimes more losses is a good thing.

The reason I used that term is because all we have to go on now is the rankings of the so-called experts. If they, as a group, have a player ranked a few spots below another player then to me it is natural to think of that lower ranked guy as a lesser player.

I just don't want them getting cute. Play it straight and take a really good player. Hopefully, a really good college player.

If we don't get someone drop surprisingly, then I guess I hope we get Bishop or Lodolo. Jung would be my next choice based on what I have read.

We all want the best choice but since there is no guarantees how players turn out , ya have to take chances. Example: What is the
difference in #1 and #2?
When it's all said and done, #7 may be better than 1 or 2.

Dan O'Dowd seems to feel the way I do.

Grant: There also has been some chatter that the Rangers could look to get somebody at No. 8 willing to take a lower-than-slot bonus so they could go bigger on bonuses in later rounds when the draft is deeper. You see that as a possibility?

O'Dowd: "I wouldn't get too cute. If you do, it's going to humble you. I've done that. One year, and I'm not going to mention the player, we did that and didn't end up with the player we should have gotten. If you like everybody the same -- and maybe they do -- that's one thing if there aren't any big separators. If you get too cute, though, you can out-think yourself. This year's draft does potentially lend itself to some of that [manipulation] going on."

If Bobby Witt Jr. doesn't fall to the Rangers at No. 8, here's another local draft prospect Texas could target
