Another weaker team to beat up on. The schedule will get harder eventually.

2019 MLB Mock Draft: Fangraphs has Rangers going bats

2019 MLB Mock Draft: Fangraphs has their latest mock draft out, going a full two rounds, and they have the Texas Rangers going with hitters with all three of their picks, including Lake Travis High School third baseman Brett Baty at #8.

The Fangraphs folks also mention a number of names we have heard before as being linked to Texas — Kody Hoese, Alek Manoah, Hunter Bishop and Jackson Rutledge — though, interestingly, this mock has Nick Lodolo still on the board when Texas picks. Recent mock drafts have generally had Lodolo going to the Cincinnati Reds at #7, after the consensus top 6 go in some order, and one would have to think the Rangers would be tempted if Lodolo, a lefty pitcher from TCU, were still on the board at #8.

At #41, Fangraphs has the Rangers going with Tyler Callihan, a high school third baseman from Florida, while they mock Arkansas center fielder Dominic Fletcher to Texas at 50. Callihan is a lefthanded hitter who is considered one of the better prep bats in the class, while Fletcher is a small lefthanded hitter who is kind of an odd pick at #50, as he’s a college guy who has produced but who has questions about how that will translate to the pros.

Right now I am leaning toward favoring the Rangers draft either Bishop, Lodolo, or Jung at #8.

I sure wish we were drafting a little higher and could get Bleday or vaughn.

Read somewhere that Witt, Jr. stock has fallen. Doubt to us tho.

Getting Lodolo would be great

I read that there are 6 projected “ good” major league hitters at the top of the draft.

I know we’re picking 8th and we need one. Do you guys think two teams ahead of us pick a pitcher?

I hope so.

I wondered if Minor was coming out in the sixth. Wish he didn’t

Weak play by Cabrera leading to HR ball. Hope we get a new 3B next year

That looked like Soler was looking for that pitch. May have left Minor in there to long.

In fairness, Woodward has very few guys in the bullpen who he trusts and he mainly uses the good ones to help starters who are struggling. I don’t blame him for trying to squeeze as much out of minor and Lynn as he can.

I doubt it. Maybe Lodolo could go before one of them, but not any other pitcher, and I highly doubt Lodolo goes that high.
