Just don’t get some scrub like Dillon Tate who will never amount to anything.

It seems like we always get screwed on the draft order and the really good players go 1 or 2 picks before it’s our turn tho.
We have made some bad decisions as well. Our whole draft philosophy may need to be questioned.

And our pitching development.

Seems like our guys always need tommy John before they get to the major league team.

We have to draft right but we also need to recognize we aren't going to be competitive for at minimum the next 2 to 4 seasons and go into a full rebuild mode playing a lineup of our young pitching and positional players

Other than picking HS pitchers, is not sure where the philosophy has been flawed. Please elaborate. To me it has been more of pitcher development. From what I understand the Rangers lead the majors in drafted players making it up regardless of team. Please correct if I am mistaken

The Yankees have gotten Tate turned around. Last year he was one of there top 30 prospects. The Rangers just have problems developing pitching.

That is a big "other than" that you led off with. That by itself is a pretty big flaw. It is not that they shouldn't draft HS pitchers, but they have over-relied on them to me.

The development of pitchers is a huge problem and it might tend to overshadow the drafting flaws, but they are both concerns to me.

The top of the draft is where they may need to adjust their philosophy. We seem to gamble a lot on high upside guys and we might need to adjust that idea.

Making it to the big leagues is one thing. I wonder how we rank as far as drafting guys who are successful in the big leagues.

Where he was drafted he should be in a team"s top 2 or 3 prospects.

He's currently the #17 prospect in the Orioles organization, and sporting a 5.68 ERA in AA

Considering the O's farm system was ranked 23rd in 2018, and he's only their #17, sounds like he's looking up at the bottom to me..

The lineup tonight is salty.

It’s probably the best lineup the rangers could possibly put together on this roster ( Calhoun on the DL obvious exception).

I hope they put up 10 runs on these guys, I’m sure someone will link it shortly.

Rangers believe Odor will turn his season around

“I haven’t given up on him,” manager Chris Woodward said. “I believe in him more than any player on the roster. But at some point, he needs to dig a little deeper and try something he is not accustomed to. I don’t want to keep doing the hope thing and hope it all works out. I want to see some push to a solution and understand what the solution is.”

Odor’s numbers stand out in comparison to the Rangers' alternatives at second base. Danny Santana started there on Friday and he entered the game hitting .296 with a .339 on-base percentage and a .478 slugging percentage. Logan Forsythe, who started at first base, but is an experienced second baseman, was hitting .309 with a .414 on-base percentage and a .485 slugging percentage.

The Rangers are also going to need room for outfielder Willie Calhoun, who is currently on the injured list with a strained left quad muscle. He could return in 7-10 days.

Odor has three years and at least $36 million remaining on his contract after this season, but he also still has two Minor League options.

“He has been working hard and doing everything we’ve asked,” Woodward said. “Part of being successful is realizing what I have been doing may not work for the rest of my career.”
