I have always wondered what are you buying yourself putting in guys hitting .071 (now .118) and .188 just because they are RH. I don't think it mattered and if it was to rest guys then so be it. But if that is a strategy and one we have use many times the past number of years I am not that crazy about it.

In this case, these guys probably won't be returning and are being given a last chance to make the 40 man roster. Why not? We have nothing to lose since we're in last place in a rebuild year. I don't think you would see these guys less Chirnos in a contending year. I believe in winning a game no matter who is in the line up but it is hard to do with these guys who are playing as a courtesy with little chance of returning.

I can agree with what you are saying. But we have done this even when we were in the heat of the race. Not just last night. In essence what I was trying to say is when we do that and that is our philosophy, which it has been, then I have a hard time with it. For the purposes you stated I agree.

Some things to remember about Blake Snell pitching so well this year.

He started 108 games in the minors including 28 at AAA as well as 43 games in the majors prior to the year that he put it all together.

He wasn't hurried along. He wasn't called on to skip AAA altogether or to only make a token amount of starts there. That allowed him to have the kind of year he is having now.

I hope the Ramgers develop guys like Crouse, Ragans, Palumbo and Winn like that.

Just remember it might take those guys 40-50 starts up here before they reach their potential.
