Take that and compare it the Rangers comments about Mazara.

"We've had conversations with Nomar," Woodward said. "We want him to be better. We want more out of him. As long as he's here, we will continue to push him. We don't feel we've gotten everything out of him.

"He's been a league-average big leaguer," Woodward added. "To pull the plug on a league-average big leaguer at this point is a little bit [much]."

Daniels: "We think there is a clear step he can take forward. And I feel strongly that he will. His production has been solid, but below his potential."

And, yet, on Tuesday night, the Rangers lineup featured Mazara hitting fourth, while Willie Calhoun packed up his bag -- and those compliments -- and headed back to the minor leagues.

Reading between the lines it seems JD sees Willie as an average defender. If getting him everyday starts at various positions makes him an above average defender then it seems they are really high on him.

I have been the proponent of an earlier window to compete but in order for that to happen Odor and Mazara who are established starters needed to perform up to their potential. That has not happened.

Despite stellar bench help we have 4 holes in our lineup- C,1B,2B and 3B.
Mazara underachieving as well. We could pick up a 3B but minus catcher the others just have to be better

Good assessment. There are a lot of holes to fill and it seems most of the current cast of characters are not it. Sure an injection of another starter or two makes us competitive in September to garner a WC spot. But the list of holes you presented is what needs to be filled for us to go deep into the playoffs and competitive in the World Series.

Let’s look at our 2015 and 2016 runs. Division champs in a division which still had the not ready for prime time Astros. We lost first round each time to the Jays. The type of rotation we had back then believe it or not was better than what we have now.

Move Odor? Where? To whom? If JD can move Odor, he is the best GM ever.

No one wants Odor’s contract. Sad to say the best option is to waiver him eat the money and let someone else try to fix his issues. Maybe Toronto would take him.
