This odor thing usually just enrages me, but it’s starting to get into sad / pathetic territory.

I feel for the guy on a personal level. I know he was banny’s favorite player. He embodied the mlb version of a “Banny rooster” and Banny would put him on the card no matter how bad he played.

I was hoping he would have to earn his playing time with the new manager, but he really hasn’t. I’m starting to believe more and more what I’ve thought all along. The front office is mandating that he plays. They are hoping beyond hope that he turns it around.

I’m happy for the guy that he will never have to worry about paying his bills and he was able to relocate his family out of Venezuela which is a total shithole country right now, but I wish there was a way for the guy to contribute to our team in a positive manner without taking 4 or 5 at bats from us almost every game.

Odor clearly has his deficiencies but I cant fault him for being in the lineup every day, he's not putting himself in that spot. He is certainly not out there trying to hurt his team or suck but the reality is he does 80% of the time or more. He makes an impact occasionally but so would a better player. There are players on the team that deserve his AB's more than he does. I know this is a year that we are trying to figure things out but you also have to give your team the best chance to win when you have a chance, otherwise you send the wrong message. Yeah it may have been a rebuilding year in the beginning but this team could win more games with him not in the lineup with his productivity He has showed who he is for 5 years

He’s been the worst regular player statistically league wide since 2017. How much more “patience” can the front office subject the fans too?

Again he is not putting himself in the lineup, thats on either the coaching staff or the FO. Either way the fanbase shouldn't have to watch this day in and day out. If he's out of options and they screwed up, sending him down when he needed to be, that's on them but bench his ass and play the player that is better. This team needs a better FO

I think they are plenty competent but they have an issue with egos that dont allow them to admit when they make mistakes and reverse the mistakes. Instead of chalking something up as a mistake or a loss, this organization tends to try and ride things past the point of no return to try to say "I told you so", instead of manning up and cutting their losses. It is ok to be wrong sometimes but dont set yourself back, trying to hold on to unproductive players, to prove your point.
I agree about their egos, but to me having the ability to check your ego is a part of being competent in that particular line of work. The way they handled Profar and now Calhoun shows very poor decision making and that speaks to their competence level as well.

Without a Teixeira to trade and a very unique situation with a Josh Hamilton to trade for, they don't seem to be able to build a WS team. There probably won't ever be any other trades like those available.

JD has done several things right and is certainly competent enough to build a WC contender. I just don't know if he can build a WS team again.

If you are competing for the WC then yes you need to play your best current players. And yes if there are players that you need to develop for the future play them. Hard to have both ways. I would hope Calhoun is in our future

How the OF got so jammed up shows how little attention this team is receiving. DDJ should have gone down before Willie. Guzman definitely could have gone down for his lack of offense productivity. Cabrera could use some time getting his act together also. Hang in there Willie. Got a feeling you will receive your reward sooner than later.

I wonder if the trade winds are blowing for one of our OF spots. Only 2 weeks left

Willie Calhoun left 'speechless' after Rangers' decision to send him back to minors

And from GM Jon Daniels: "It sounds ironic, but we are probably more convicted than ever in Willie. He's a part of a championship club. He's made himself an average defender. He's taken steps."

Take that and compare it the Rangers comments about Mazara.

"We've had conversations with Nomar," Woodward said. "We want him to be better. We want more out of him. As long as he's here, we will continue to push him. We don't feel we've gotten everything out of him.

"He's been a league-average big leaguer," Woodward added. "To pull the plug on a league-average big leaguer at this point is a little bit [much]."

Daniels: "We think there is a clear step he can take forward. And I feel strongly that he will. His production has been solid, but below his potential."

And, yet, on Tuesday night, the Rangers lineup featured Mazara hitting fourth, while Willie Calhoun packed up his bag -- and those compliments -- and headed back to the minor leagues.

Haven't heard anything on OF. Read today that Jon Morsi said that Rangers are leaning towards trading Minor. How he knows or don't knows is anybody's guess

I have to say.

I think people on LSB are a bunch of crazy idiots. The prevailing thought over there is “trade everyone and stock up on lottery tickets”.

If the team totally sucked, didn’t have much talent, and we were 10 games out of both the division and the wild card, I’d agree.

However, I just don’t understand why people are jumping at the chance to “trade everyone” and see this team not compete until 2025 when we probably could compete earlier if we kept some guys who are useful and mainly traded guys with expiring contracts, minor being the main exception.

I have been the proponent of an earlier window to compete but in order for that to happen Odor and Mazara who are established starters needed to perform up to their potential. That has not happened.

Despite stellar bench help we have 4 holes in our lineup- C,1B,2B and 3B.
Mazara underachieving as well. We could pick up a 3B but minus catcher the others just have to be better

It sounds like JD needs to look at moving odor or Mazara in the offseason if they’re holding us back from competing.

Move Odor? Where? To whom? If JD can move Odor, he is the best GM ever.

Dunno. Maybe the front office is trying to lose like in the movie Major League. And Odor is the only one on program.
