Has anyone mentioned that there is a shit ton of work to be done, for this team to become competitive by next year. A proverbial fuckton actually.

This team may supposed to be a little better than Oakland on paper and possibly by records but they aren't that much better honestly.

Listening to the game at 3-1 with 2 me n on and Bubba about to take a walk. Then. Snake eyes and Oaktown comes up and blows it open

Going to have to be very patient with Bubba if he is your guy. To me Leody is the project you wait on. You need a more reliable bat in LF.

Suddenly if we are going to roll with new guys 2023 seems to soon to contend no matter what Davies says

Really need Jung and another guy to really break out

So does that mean Woody was too?

Woody never got a fair shake with the roster he was given either imo but he was gonna be the fall guy and then Daniels was shown the door as well.

I always kinda felt like Chris Woodward was just an interim hire to begin with and when they really constructed a team, they expected compete, that he would be replaced at that time.

I never really could figure out what the hell Daniels was doing or not doing but I dont think he ever intended for him to be here, as long as he was. They were just mired in the rebuild the entire time he was here. Then I think when given half a billion dollars plus in FA's, the expectation increased whether that was fair or not. The addition of Semien, Seager and Gray weren't gonna put this team over the .500 mark and that's where I think Daniels punched his ticket on the train outta town.

Aside from Judge, I don't even really see a middle of the order bat available in FA or even many bats, that I might really be interested in going after. I might have some interest n Trea Turner depending on the price but where does he play with Seager here. Abreu is getting up there, though he's having a pretty good year this year.

Trading for a bat means you give up value as well. 2023 is just too soon for this team to acquire all the pieces it would take to contend IMO

If the Rangers let the new Manager pick his own people and Hyers ends up leaving you may see Seager become a problem child or demand a trade now that both reasons (Woody/Hyers) he came here would be gone...

I never really thought him coming here was that great of an idea to to begin with (too many injuries, too little defense, too long contract and too much money). His production or lack thereof (and Semiens) may be one of the reasons JD was shown the door... :noidea:

Has Sborz been DFA’d yet?
not yet but when they DFA'ed Richards we technically left a 40-man spot open so why not add Tinoco or Chase Lee to the 40 and bring that one up. then DFA Sborz and add the other one

From Evan Grant:

How does this impact the Rangers rebuild?

Ownership’s patience has run thin after six years of losing. Changing the head of baseball operations and the field manager less than two years into the full-scale rebuild “feels” like a deviation from the plan. Rebuilds often take more time and money than budgeted. They aren’t linear. This season is a perfect example.

Will Davis (and minority owner Neil Leibman) spend more wildly or pressure Young to be more willing to deal prospects? Largely, they have not meddled in baseball operations, but, then again, this move is out of line with their history. Davis reiterated that he will leave baseball decisions to the baseball operations department. He said the club will be willing to spend on free agents again this offseason, though he hoped not as much as last winter.

Davis said the rebuild is on track, which would seem to be contradictory to his actions Wednesday. If it was on track, then why make a change?

we need to rebuild the Bullpen with the exception of a couple of guys our present bullpen is really bad. this off-season we need to add 2 or 3 pieces with one being a quality closer

Joy Hoyt had this as part of an article about how the players view this week's firings.

'“Hopefully I can stay here a couple more years and see what they got,” Pérez said."

I know some folks use the word "couple" loosely, but hopefully in this case that means Martin is looking for a 2 or maybe 3 year deal.

Jon Gray is out at minimum until mid-September so why not put him on the 60-day IL and add Cole Winn to the 40-man and bring him up. seen enough of Arihara so DFA him, pay him and send him home and then add Owen White and bring him up. go to a 6-man rotation of Perez, Dunning, Otto, Ragans, Winn & White for the last 45 games.

DFA Culberson & add Josh Jung to the 40-man and bring him up.

Send Meibrys Viloria down and bring Sam Huff back up

It would have been easy to get an OF FA and maybe Rockies SS but there is so much into this why JD is gone. I think the owners and CU were 100% on board with the signings.

Attendance is down and the prospects we weee all looking to save the day have not arrived so things did not go as planned despite any realism. Not saying a change was not needed but that does not excuse the logic

Between Gray and the two starting pitching acquisitions this coming offseason, that pretty much locks up three spots in our rotation through at least 2025. That gives us two open spots. If they do manage to sign Pérez to a two year deal then that means only 2 spots are locked up for 2025.

Those two open spots for 2023 are most likely going to Dunning and either Otto or Ragans.

That leaves Winn, White, and Leiter vying for two spots, if they can convince the Rangers that they can perform better than Dunning and/or the fifth starter at some point next year or in ST of 2024.

If two of Leiter, Winn and White are able to break through to the rotation that leaves some guys to either be traded or transition to the pen.

Basically, you have White, Leiter, Winn, Dunning, Ragans, and Otto all vying for 2 starting positions by, at the latest, ST of 2024. You might be able to add Kelly, Kent, Bradford and maybe even Englert to that mix by then. I think Leiter gets the one spot because of where he was drafted, unless he is a complete bust.

Myself, I think both Winn and White are going to prove they belong, and by ST of 2024 the Rangers are going to have one too many very qualified starting pitchers in camp. In fact, that most likely becomes apparent by this time next year.

I cannot emphasize enough that having more quality homegrown starting pitchers than there are rotation spots available is the absolute best "problem" a franchise can have.
