Who has said they would be content with such a terrible plan?

I said fro a realistic standpoint sign a closer and 2 other late inning guys. But did allude to a trade position player for pitchers who hope can be MLB ready

My thought was not replacing relied staff with 5 vets. Do think our pen is drastically different next year. Hope we have some guys in the MILB that can step up and pitch later this year or at least next year

I am wanting to get 5 new guys for the pen via free agency or trade.

Ideally, next year I would like to go into the season with the following makeup in the bullpen:

2 guys you can trust to close

2 guys you can count on to do consistently well in the 7th or 8th

2 guys who are maybe too inexperienced or a little too inconsistent to trust in late innings, but who have good enough stuff to keep the game close

2 guys who can give you 2 or 3 innings if need be, but who you wouldn't be afraid of, if they needed to go into the 7th or 8th on occasion.

In that first category, I want two guys I can trust a lot more than Chapman. He would be in the third category for me.

About the only difference is possibly the ability of the relievers. I want pitchers that are effective 95% of the time not every appearance can be by design

Yes I do but being pragmatic I realize that that’s not realistic. I want them to get the best they can starting with Hader, resigning Stratton and then go for the best they can get. Realize that we will probably retain Burke and probably even Sborz(god help us) and that leaves 4 openings

As long as he doesn’t sit on his hands and do nothing, like he did last year. His plan this year was Hernandez in the 8th and LeClerc in the ninth. One guy can’t throw strikes and the other is a mental midget and can’t handle stressful situations. Good plan.

Fortunately the rest of the way is only 25 days and then he’ll be gone
