Self-proclaimed Asshole
So if we could stop seeing Chirinos behind the plate every third game that would be great.

Let Chirinos catch at the most for the 5 spot. With the days off coming up he shouldn't need any rest for now. To me Chirinos just shows up and hopes he knows what he is doing behind the plate. More of a facade.Maybe he takes every third day off not only for rest but to put those headphones on and do his research. In the long run the time off may help us win more games.

To his point though Lucroy has hit 7 HR in 44 AB here and I am not sure if he ever did anything like that when he was catching so many games in 2013 and 2014. That being said, I would like to see him catch more often than he has and even if he doesn't I wouldn't expect that HR pace to continue. I do think there is benefit in resting him more than he was rested in the past.Com'on now. He's a 7 year ML veteran who avg catching 150 games in 2013/2014. He had 110 last year due to injury, and he's got 110 games this season so he should be good to go for at least 8 outta 10 games, and 9 if need be.
We've got lots of off days, so I can't imagine that he needs two days off a week for rest and study hall.

"I think one of my strengths is that I'm able to make adjustments," Darvish said through a translator. "But, with Lucroy, we are always on the same page and it's easy to do it. That's what we did tonight. ... He works and studies so hard, it gives me so much confidence. There is an extreme trust that I feel out there."
Baseball stiffy: activated.
No I don't and made sure I said so. I just think there is some benefit in resting him more than he got in those other years, but not necessarily to the extent that he has been rested here thus far.Fair point. In fact, his best HR season was 18 in 2013. And it was by far his best season, until now.
But I don't expect him to keep up this offensive pace regardless of how much rest he gets. Do you?
And it probably has given him a new lease on his baseball life to be playing with a good team, in positive atmosphere, rather than struggling in Milwaukee. Nothing like having an opportunity to go to the PO.
If 2/3 of this lineup could get hot at the same time and down the stretch into the PO's it might be really hard to beat and could lead to an amazing post season run

The Texas Rangers have the worst bullpen ERA (4.67) in the American League entering Thursday
Thanks Tolleson, Wilhelmsen, et al
Someone in the main MLB forum pointed this out to me as evidence that the Rangers couldn't sustain their pace. I had to explain to them just how bad those guys were and how they are no longer part of the staff.
