I'm probably pushing Lucroy's playing time more so b/c how much better our pitching staff becomes when he's out there. I don't think it's just good timing nor by accident that Darvish and Perez are pitching their best now that he's here.

His offense has saved us to date as well, which is just great icing on the catching cake.

He can definitely help any pitcher he works with.

That icing has helped us to survive a lot recently. It may not be this way always, but when you hit 7 HR in 44 ABs then someone could make an argument that the catching is the icing. I am just glad we have both no matter which is called the cake and which is called the icing.

The Texas Rangers have the worst bullpen ERA (4.67) in the American League entering Thursday and could use some relief help. Jonathan Papelbon is available, but there is no interest in the veteran on the Rangers' side, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News tweets.

We are not as bad as the numbers portray us. Bad peaks and valleys has savaged that BP ERA. Most of the culprits are now gone (cough, cough Willmensen).

I think in the only reliever in your BP with a higher than 4 ERA is currently Kela and that is because he does not have the innings the other do.

Our top 7 (the ones still standing) have a combined ERA of 3.26. And THAT is with Kela's outlier 6.10 ERA. A few more scoreless innings and it will come down more. Everyone else is under 3 except Jeffrees at 3.86

I read this earlier today and Morris was spot on about Astros reputation playing hardball even perhaps dirty against their own MILB players which came back to bite on Singleton and B Aiken. The way they tanked purposefully got them picks they could not sign but did in no way endear themselves to the big leaguers. They actually seem to be good with player development but Front Office have never endeared themselves to city of Houston IMO. Owners and a GM who did not make the trade.
If they are looking for someone to blame look in the mirror
